Wests Tigers sign James Roberts till 2022

When you consider Roberts and Tamou are costing us a total of $500k per season, that's pretty good buying right there....

all i know is that whenever i watched him play the last few seasons, he brought excitement and a rise in energy in everything he did when he had the ball. He is a legitimate first class threat, and that's something we've missed for ages.

Absolute crap, flies in the face of the culture that we have been led to believe was being created by Madge, ownership, growth, accountability, just words, when a broken down has been becomes available.
I'm sorry lads, I'm usually positive about signings, not this one, isn't he managed by Isaac Moses! They never mention his name, just his manager. Five clubs in a decade, all immediate releases, should tell you something about the quality of the injury prone cc player we just brought, and to make matters worse we just helped the bunnies salary cap. Jeez we are such fools

You’re right mate, he won’t show up to training, other players will get disgruntled when he still gets picked, he’ll be injured a lot and the Tigers will be in the media for the wrong reasons, making it harder to attract talent with all the salary cap space for 2022. It’s so Wests Tigers. Having said all that, I hope by some miraculous phenomenon, he changes his ways and we make the eight due to his attacking prowess.

Good luck.

Agree with all on here, no brainer pick up for 150K,.

Also hearing what POM had to say regarding his manager apparently suggesting the low 150K is actually most impressive, means he is isn't bringing ego and is legitimate about actually wanting to play footy.

Well done both sides. Welcome Roberts lets hope we can now terrorise both sides of the field with BJ included.

Believe he was asking for $130k to prove himself

Either way Min wage is ~$105k so a fantastic value signing no matter what happens.

I guess when you see that the Roosters .....Melbourne aren't interested in this $5 lucky dip prize says a lot ..says a lot about the WT's ....great pick up IF he gets over achilles injury , mental health issues , fact he has not finished ONE contract ..... we take too many chances on too many big risks

We didn’t help their salary cap at all, he was a free agent already departed Souths. They were impressed by him and he asked for the major pay cut obviously he wants to prove himself. That’s ownership growth and accountability right there as long as he stays true to his word. Plus he’s dirt cheap

So what happens to South’s salary cap regarding the Jet?

Nothing, he was released without payment.

Yep, the whole of game perception is that we are unprofessional. And it’s hurting us. Cant see how this signing got the approval of the coach, football Manager and CEO. And board if they get involved? honestly think Madge will quit this year.

Is that because he wanted out?

Just would have thought someone would have asked why?

That’s pretty fortunate for South’s isn’t it?

Apparently it was a mutual agreement, it may be true as it seems the pressure to live up to such a big contract may have caused issues for him.

Fantastic buying. If we can nab Laurie for 21 and Sironen we’re cooking.

Looked forward to me ?

I think this is an astute signing with it all being in the clubs favour (get out clause) so at this point it’s all on James to prove he deserves what I would say is his last life line in the NRL.

Toes and fingers crossed it works out for all involved and would personally love to see him beat the black dog.

Great signing at minimal wage. If BJ and him have a great pre season then we need to fit 3 into 2 ( Talau, BJ, Roberts). Either way great competition for spots and finally some pace. I wonder if Talau at lock is the way to go.

He has x factor and is a potential game changer on his day so definitely a plus signing at the right price. We certainly need roster changes such as this signing.
