Roberts big play is receiving early or out balls so he can burn his opposite centre and winger on the outside. Because of this he stretches and loosens the opposition defense on that side as they’re constantly on guard, worried by the threat he poses.

A fit, healthy, determined and focused Roberts will be an asset.

BJ definitely not a second rower. But Talau I would give it a crack. Just don’t think he has the speed to be a centre, but supposedly has some ball playing skills. I would give him a shot.

Madge plays locks as props. He’s just not big enough (yet)

Put speed outside him and he’s be a fine centre, or a big bodied 5/8 - never seen him kick though

Talau screams edge backrower to me . Power . Speed , ball skills. He needs to bulk up , but I definitely see it .

Power, speed, ball skills... sounds like a centre to me. He’s 92 kegs, if he puts on 10-20kgs he will lose what speed he has.

That’s not true . You can develop muscle mass and maintain speed. Outside of Usain Bolt , how many sprinters are beanpoles . They all look like edge backrowers. Anyways , he belongs on an edge whether it’s in 11 or 3 , all it means is your run the in ball or the out ball and defend either side of your half . It’s not much difference in today’s game

Xerri has more in common with huge sprinters than talau when it comes to body weight and speed

Besides bolt is the heaviest sprinter in history at 94kgs and he’s a giant at 195cms.

Talau is 1.89 and 92 kegs, he will slow down

Fifita looks plenty fast enough . So does Sonny Bill , considering his position was outside centre in union . Garner bulked up and looks to be plenty fast enough .

He’s only had a couple of games there so I can’t really judge that. All I know is he’s not a second rower.

Mind you if Bellamy wanted him....

You lost me now. comparing talau to fafita then sonny bill and finally throwing garner into that mix. Talk about throwing names out there and hoping.

You are spot on about 3 and 11 being the same though. 11 needs to be a better defender to cover for halves and centres who can’t tackle hhaha

What wasn't convincing from a first year rookie centre? The terrific lines he ran to score tries out of nothing? The tough runs off our 10m line into a set defensive pack with nothing to gain? Super harsh from my point of view mate

Slow with bad hands is never a good combination. He ran lines off our 10m line into the defence? Good thats his job. He was usually swallowed up quickly and never pushed through the line.

He is very young and I hope he develops but his lack of pace and bad hands is very worrying.

I'd suggest he was playing injured for the best part of the season. Happy to judge off his second year.

Also don't twist my words, he took tough carries from our own line and rarely got pushed back. He ran lines in the opposition 10m and when given early ball, often causes trouble.

And playing behind a forward pack that dominates nobody, he was pretty solid and playing out of position with a hamstring injury. The more I think about it the better he was

Astute signing.

I’ve criticised our recruitment and retention for years but I’m confident we are moving forward.
Pascoe, Lee H, Hartigan and Maguire are leading the club well. It is my understanding that their are now strict guidelines, protocols, measures in place for all recruitment and retention. Players must meet criteria and are benchmarked against a standard. There will be no more over priced signings. We may lose a few because of this measured approach but it is going to be better for us long term.
Well done Tigers leaders!!

Maybe they have got all that analytics in place and I hope your right and it works, but come on man this is an absolute shy at the stumps from long off

What ? They were all wingers and centres prior to moving to the back row. That’s why I mentioned them .

Well to continue with your analogy, if the money is what has been reported, even if we miss the stumps they’ll be no over throws!! Under Madge he could blossom. Sounds like he wants it. Let’s get behind him and the club and hope it works out

I’ll be hoping we win games as I always do, a little too much, and it will be a great story if jimmy is a contributor, I just need to see something from the club that indicates that we are changing our ways in terms of professionalism, the rumour today about Sirro gives me hope, if we could negotiate a deal to swap Aloiai for Sirro I’d be much more positive about our prospects. Sirro and LL would be a destructive second row.

Totally understand your skepticism. All I can say is I’m very confident there’s a process being calmly carried out. We are in good hands I believe. But yes, it needs to start being proven with on field success
