Their are rumours floating around that we have signed Canterbury NSW Cup player John Sila for the rest of the year. He plays on the wing and he has got speed to burn and I mean speed to buuuurn !!! Like Koro speed. He is 107 kgs and 180 cms.He joined the Dogs Nyc team in 2012 and scored 19 tries in 22 games and then scored 23 tries in 11 games in 2013\. He's only 21 and I reckon he could be even better than Koro TBH. I am on my phone now so it's pretty hard to get some links but once I hop on to my Computer I'll share some links and try to find some highlights of him.

Edit: confirmed! The name's Tigersman A.K.A TheForumMole

SILA NRL-BOUND

Former Canterbury forward John Sila has become Wests Tigers' second mid-season signing. The joint-venture club has already prised NSW NYC forward Matt Lodge from Melbourne, but are set to lose Marika Koroibete on a 2½ year deal to the Storm before the June 30 window shuts.

Sila will provide capable forwards cover, particularly after Liam Fulton was sidelined indefinitely due to repeated concussions.

"This is a great opportunity for John to reestablish himself in the NRL," said Sila's manager, Mario Tartak.

Gee, he would be some fast backrower if the journo was correct :unamused:

Re-establish himself in the NRL???

Poor swap IMO losing Koro for Sila but may have been a money thing so cant really comment without knowing all the details.

My understanding is he works really hard but more importantly he is on NSW cup money and not NRL money and in a NSW cup winger that is fairly key. We also already have 2 great wingers still in NSW cup taukofa and jye

If we was doing that against NRL players I'd get excited

But he's not and if the reports are true about his defence leave him in NSW Cup until he learns to defend

As I have said time and time again , be able to defend and safe under the high ball is far more important than being able to run over 6 blokes or doing the hundred in 10.6

Give me a Mitch Brown type player everyday of the week over a Koroibete or Sila

Or even the Bulldogs wingers at the moment , no names that do their job and find a way to get over the tryline

Powerfully built, looks similar in build to Konrad Hurrell but quicker. So yeah, looks like a good finisher in the lower grades, but he needs to be able to tackle properly too if he's going to get a run in FG.

Kidwell should be able to help his defence, Potter his positional play. We look to have the staff that could help bring the best out of him if he wants it.

Then What happened to Koro and T-REX and BMM, the staff did not try or we just wanted to get rid of them?

Well said…. there seems to be the line that the coaches will rectify these problems ,what about the problems in the NRL side ?

I know that a few are upset we have lost some players , but if you ever read Wayne Bennett's thoughts with the salary cap , he expects every season to turn over 20% of his playing personnel

Potter obviously has plans that those three players mentioned don't fit into

JJJ: Two posts ever…. Both about Sila. One providing some video content, the other to create some excitement about the content and players potential.

You wouldn't perhaps be his manager would you JJJ? If not his manager then clearly a person close to him.

Give us some more info. You need to let us know more about the move, where he's been told he will play and why he couldn't get a run at the dogs.

If your family then relax, he will get his shot at the tigers. Look at Taupau. He was only ok at the Dogs and look at him now.

I have heard things that insinuate that both Koro and BMM had attitude issues. In the end if the players aren't committed then they should be allowed to pursue opportunities somewhere else. They aren't horses, you can't whip them to make them run.

Interesing.
Would love to know the WHOLE story.
Heard Sila is a gutsy player a nice dude, know a former NSW CUP team mate of his.

Anyways, Koroi is a bit of a loss imo.
Classy in attack, suspect in defence.
Everyone can improve though, Potter mustn't be a fan.
