He didn't do a lot with NSW but he was up against some of the greatest generational players as well

As a player you couldn't doubt his passion and skill

The other advantage was he was a good centre as well , he will offer a lot to PM and Marsters

Time will tell

He got a series win.

5 cracks for 1 series win is not great in a two horse race. In fact it is very mediocre.

That would be like a coach making the Top 8 once in 5 seasons and saying well he did a decent job !

However I quite like the move. Laurie has a failure as a Head Coach. However this motored role is totally different in a area where he should be able to help.

he is a highly respected figure in the game. Madge is known for his intensity. Laurie is probably more laid back. A good mix.

I dont see any real negatives to this.

If that moron Hayne passes the ball he wins 2 out of 5\. Not bad considering the two squads. Bellamy didn't get a series win at all but you couldn't say he can't coach.

If Cronk doesn't break his arm you don't win a series

Yeah that was pretty good.

Odd thought.

Is Daley there for Reynolds, Marshall and Gamble?
Luke Brooks has benefited out of sight under Cleary. No doubt he can benefit a bit under Daley. But Daley is a 5/8, not a Halfback.

I could see Daley really lifting Gamble and extracting a lot more game out of Reynolds. Lets face it, it was 5/8 not our half that let us down last season and I loved seeing Marshall back with us.

Ill back the comment above. Daley would be a great coach for Marsters and whoever is the other center pairing.

This has been my thinking as well. The only player who could take his game to the next level under Daley is Gamble. The others are set in their ways or slow to learn.

Geez Patriot it’s only January! I’m still eating ham and already the Gamble talk begins??

Yeah, saw this on my newsfeed. Could be a winner. He was a very gifted player, not so gifted coaching teams. BUT one on one with Brooks could add more to his game. Just wait and see I guess but I have no problem with it.
BTW, is this another sign that our team is attracting the right attention and people want to be part of it?

I am looking forward to the success of his appointment ,as he may be able to improve the halves game ,namely Luke Brooks as I believe he has more room for improvement .

Well, the Balmain Boys had the great Laurie Nichols doing more than whispering in their ears so why not enjoy the Daley Lisps of Wisdom from a Modern Day Uncle Laurie! :boxing_glove::boxing_glove::boxing_glove:

But it helps if you have the right Cattle. Who could ever have imagined a skinny winger called Wayne becoming such a long term coaching success without players such as Lewis, Langer, Lockyer and Lote … and that's just the "L"s!

I think the bloke is a peanut, but it doesnt take much to see that they have very similar playing styles.

I doubt there is a person on this forum who thinks Brooks is the cerebral Cronk type, has the skill set, but gets flustered tying his boots up.

His short frame sells a lie, he hits hard, and runs with both speed and power. I hate to say it, but Daley's style is a good fit for Luke. Run first, pass second…. Madge likes the bully style of game.

Not happening. On BSB this morning a caller asked Daley if he was going to be assisting us on the coaching staff. Daley has declined the opportunity. His words along this line: "I would have liked to take that opportunity but my commitments here (at BSB) mean I couldn't fully commit to that role".
