Wests Tigers Sign Michael Chee Kam, Jack Littlejohn and Jesse Parahi

Maybe us having real cap issues will end up being a blessing, it seems to have forced them to put a lot of thought into how they will use their limited cap space. I am really pleased we have not gone out and made another signing like Anasta

As I indicated to Rex earlier, there seems to be a more profound business professionalism within the club, making themselves accountable for where our finances go and where we are saving..
Admittedly I was surprised by the new signings as I thought we weren't going to buy players for a while, however when Taylor indicated our problem areas such as centre and backrow,we are pursuing talent that can play there whilst still being in control of the purse strings..
Good business acuman and sensible purchasing without digging a deeper financial hole…

Wests Tigers recruit Jesse Parahi turns back on Olympics to pursue NRL dream

Australian Rugby Sevens forward **Jesse Parahi** has turned his back on an opportunity to play at the Olympics by signing with Wests Tigers in an indication that players believe the team for Rio is set to be dominated by Wallabies stars.

Parahi, who was a member of Australia's bronze medal-winning Sevens team at last year's Commonwealth Games, will join the Tigers on a one-year deal in 2016 rather than aim for an Olympic berth.

Tigers officials view him as a wide-running back-rower and say at the age of 26 Parahi wants to return to the code he first began playing as a Canterbury Bulldogs junior while still a chance of playing at NRL level.

However, Parahi won't make the move until after an Oceania tournament in Auckland in November, at which Australia hope to qualify for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.

Assuming Australia succeed in qualifying for the Olympics, players like Quade Cooper, Israel Folau, Henry Speight, Bernard Foley, Matt Toomua and Sean McMahon are tipped to join the Sevens program after the end-of-season Rugby World Cup at the expense of players who have been playing in the IRB World Series.

Parahi, who has Maori heritage, played both codes until his selection in the 2007 Australian rugby union schoolboys team and he was a member of the Brumbies Academy program before moving full-time to Sevens five years ago.

He has represented Australia 33 times in Sevens and captained the side during a number of IRB tournaments since making his debut in the London leg of the international circuit in 2010.

**The Tigers believe the speed, footwork and defence he has shown in Sevens will enable Parahi, who is 195 centimetres tall and weighs 104kg, to make a successful transition to league and have signed him on a 12-month contract.**
The club also announced the signing of Manly players Michael Chee Kam and Jack Littlejohn on one-year deals.

**Chee Kam, 23**, has played two NRL games for the Sea Eagles and is a former Australian Schoolboys representative who plays primarily in the back-row, while Littlejohn can cover a range of positions in the back line but is seen as predominantly a five-eighth or halfback.

**Tigers coach Jason Taylor said that all three players would be valuable additions to the club's roster for next season.**

"It's really important for us to start building our depth at the club," Taylor said. "These three guys are going to help us do that. They are all talented players in their own right and having spoken to them each individually, I know that they are coming here to push for first-grade positions and that's what we want.

"It's important to have those players at our club who are willing to put in the desired work and effort – both on and off the field – to get themselves in a position where they are genuinely pushing for an NRL position.

"These guys have that ambition and it's going to build competition within our ranks which will help push us forward as a club."

I havent seen a rugby player make it in the NRL yet.

Chris I always enjoy your input into our topics…but sometimes in the midst of conversation and trying to get a point across,we become embroiled within the topic,I have on many occasions...the old saying...."off with the head and on with the pumpkin"...

As one of our fine forum members mentioned earlier...you left yourself open with that one..

Parahi? what a joke. I know a rugby union agent who said he's a pile of s***. If he was any good don't you think one of the 5 Australian super rugby franchises would have picked him up. A 26yo who has played Sevens for 5 years!! We already have a useless slow backrower in Lovitt. Warren McDonnell should have been the first staff member cut when Taylor came in.

Your spot on mate, I thought the same.

We are sticking with a budget and that is what he is a budget signing :unamused:

The one thing with 7's rugby players is they have to be able to make tackles stick

He will be a second tier signing and could be worth the risk

No doubt the off season training at NRL level will be a massive step up

He is here now , lets hope he can step up and become a valuable member of the squad

I read in another thread that Ava had agreed to terms, they are now crossing t's and dotting i's to make it happen

Ava & Lovett both should be announced soon in regards to Re-Signing.

I'm confident Ava is staying. The guy is now established NRL forward and would walk into most teams squads. Being unsigned still would be his choice, to me it's saying he is waiting til we can sort out what we need to to keep him. Hopefully it's a longer deal this time round, no more 1 year crap.

Che-Kam is cool, could be anything.
Hopefully proves his worth and re-signs after a good season next year.

Wish we signed Manly Outside back Tony Satini…
A few Warriors to be announced soon I think

Heard from NZ Ikahihifo, Gubb are going to Sydney. There is also another rumour from Josh Massoud Taupau is heading the other way. He did break the Isaac Luke story so there may be some truth.

ikahihifo and gubb is this just a rumour or has some one got some inside goss, as both would be great signings.

I can add some clarity. We signed Jonathan Thurston, Tom Brady and John Cena. We gonna be hard to beat next year.
