Wests Tigers sign Robert Jennings

Just watched the highlights if Jennings TRIES…certanly looked quick falling over the line 2m in 15 of the 19..

Definitely a gain for Tigers and loss for Souths.

I shouldn't see any reason why he doesn't make the backline - He plays with a lot of energy is a proven try-scorer.

The upside is he is 22 and in my opinion is already the best Jennings - I don't see why he can't emulate what his brother did during his peak and he could even eclipse that.

His development is super promising imo.

Welcome Robert
Good signing!!!

I think he should play on the right side, after watching his highlights he carries the ball in his right arm.

Hopefully he can bag a few meat pies for us, but gee the Souths halves set him up nicely, he didnt have much to do at all, i could have scored most of those tries.

What's his passing game like? I agree with Tiger he was set up well to finish those tries. If he's going to play centre he'll need more.

You still need to be in the right position to dive over in the corner. How often have we bombed tries by having a winger too shallow or too deep to catch the ball?

Darius Boyd made an origin career out of being in the right place to dive over in the corner.

Geo . . . Yes, there was a fair bit of falling over the line. But if you look back through the pain of our recent seasons, our attacking decisions and finishing ability when we got close to the opp try line could certainly have been improved by a winger like Jennings. . . . if he was sprinting, diving or even falling over the line.

Given his size, I am worried that if he plays centre, he may not be able to pass correctly to short wingers like Nofa, Fonua & Thompson

Another thing to consider is that we've had the smallest wing pairings in the NRL for years. Nof, Thompson, Rankin, Naiqama, MWZ. It's hard to defend bombs, or your try line when you're giving up so much size to so many opponents. This may allow him to play wing if Momirovksi is considered good enough to start.

Overlooked as just a finisher was my comment. My point being he is one of the best runners out of our own end in the game.

Like to see a highlight package of him in defence.

Certainly didn't have much to do in attack with his inside men setting him up - fall over the line (I admit he fell over nicely) - good to have a taller man under the bombs as well.

You have to wonder how Nofoaluma would have gone in the 2018 Souths squad.

Seibold had them playing some really good ball. Wingers are going to score tries. Isaako this year will benefit from his game plan.

Jennings is a good player but the extent of that talent starts now, level start, best man wins.

So people are saying playing Jennings on the wing is great because it will give us height to defuse kicks. Um …... no. Good teams will just kick down our other side all game - where we will still have a short winger.
