I can see why Madge would be doing this but I wonder about the effect on the players.

Eisenhuth made an interesting comment about Madge in his radio interview. He said that Madge is very honest with the players and that the players always know where they stand with him.

He said that with some coaches he has played under, one never knows where one stands, so that being dropped can come as a complete surprise.

It seems that Madge puts his players on-notice and that when they are dropped (or relegated to the bench in Brooks' case) it would not come as much of a surprise, and they would certainly know why they were dropped.

Eisenhuth, at least, appreciates the coach's honesty.

I don’t think any player will be thinking the coach doesn’t have faith in them, as Eiso said he’s very honest with them and I’ve heard other players say they know madge believes in them all to become that top level team.

I’m glad we have a coach who isn’t afraid to make the tough decisions and drop players. You don’t get anywhere letting guys keep their spots if they don’t deserve it.

People are saying McGregor made lots of changes at dragons but he didn’t actually drop the guys who needed dropping to be honest, Norman has been dreadful and he’s been in the team every week. It took him forever to debut Clune who deserved it for half a season. The only time there’s been changes is when the team list is out of his control

The easiest and softest decision was not to drop Mbye.

It astounds me that when a team is not performing competatively the first choice of reply is "the coach needs to go"the team is not performing for him...No the first choice of reply should be "have a look at the product (players) purchased at exorbitant prices"" and then see what value they offer for the price, after all they are professional NRL players in the big arena and should know how to play to structures and gameplans...if not they should find another career..
Funnily enough some much younger players learn to play the way the coach wants and seem to go onto better futures in the game...

Its not always the coaches fault sometimes he doesnt have much to work with...sound familiar...other coaches attempt to coach at this level but havent the complete ability to do so ...JT comes to mind..
Its a 2 way street, you either make it or you dont, its the results that impact players/coaches and therein lies the answer to players being dropped or coaches being sacked...

21 seasons now TT ...same questions ..same situations ...basically the same results bar 3 seasons

Maybe thats what Madge is trying to change, and realistically he has to be given his full tenure to produce better results than previous years..Sheens was here the longest and won a premiership...

"every tigers game be like"?

Other than the Knights game - and even in that, we were still in it up until a certain point - all our games have been winnable, but we were still unable to close out those games.
This is mediocrity in all it's glory.
There is absolutely no harm in the team's foundation if players are getting dropped due to poor form. I said it the other other night, at times, this team are stuck in 2nd gear and there's always the one or two that fail to fulfil their role for the team. It's complacency and what is called weak links.

If you look at the recent Player's Poll only two of the boys got a mention. Nofo and Harry were voted third overall in their respective positions - with HG also getting the majority of votes for both Rookie of the Year and Best Buy of the Year.
We need to build a team of players who are respected and admired by their peers, as much as us fans.

Building a team takes a long time but I think Madge can do it. Unfortunately a lot of fans expect instant results and some are already turning on the coach after a year and a half.

I agree with what you say, however our players seem to respect Madge and what he is trying to accomplish...its the impatient fans who seem to want a new coach at times...

Nofa, Aloiai and Hodgson sent for Covid tests because they live in hot spot areas. Should be fine though

I’m sure their results will be pushed forwards. My girlfriends test took less than 24 hours a few days ago

I don’t see why they would be. They aren’t any more important than anyone else.

You’re right, but they’ve been given advantages for other things regarding the virus so I’m sure V’landys will be pushing the government to get it done

How can Harry get best buy when he is on loan

Test results are given in the mornings next day anyway so unless they played at 11am they’d be fine. My mum works at a testing clinic

They are done by a private company and paid for to be expedited..not at a pop up station..

Also essential workers in the general public get results within 24hrs..my daughter was tested at 10am on a Saturday and had the results at 11pm that night..

He's only dropping players that aren't performing and it's not like it's kneejerk. Benji had a couple of average games in defense, not just one. Brooks just hasn't hit his straps yet this year; the 'official' reason was his defense last week but he's consistently been an excellent defender so the real reason is he just isn't generating chances (especially compared to previous years where he has always been near the top of try assists in NRL).

Dropped Packer for a brainsnap, would have done BJ the same (still might). Won't be surprised to see Mbye dropped too if we have any actual options to replace him.

There's a reason AD, Nof, Luc haven't been dropped, McIntyre has been retained and so on. You can talk about continuity but the overall point he's made is that the team hasn't proved anything so no one can feel or deserves entitlement. If they start winning you'll see continuity.

Well said. Madge is making them accountable, which is scary for us, it's not something we've ever seen before at WT. And it can go belly up. But I do agree with some people who seem to have the opinion, that it is the only way we can hopefully change our club from being a perennial 9th place joke, to a contender. Though (I hate to even think it) unless there's a miracle, we won't be a contender this year. Let's get in that Top 8 though...

Thanks mate. With all the injuries there's a twist in the tale yet, not just for us but the whole comp. If we can stay healthy enough for the rest we can definitely jag 7 or 8 as Manly are busted and Souths are one or two injuries away from not good enough. This Roosters team is one of the best I can ever remember watching, they remind of the early aughts Eels but injuries have just about pulled them back to the pack. Panthers are looking real good and Storm while not being at their best will win on consistency alone.

We got ours is less than 24hrs. They are pretty quick. NSW health are doing an outstanding job in this area, including follow up calls to check everything is OK.
