He was into the Oporto back then but appears to have found professionalism works for him.

Was still a good player even then, but has really kicked on since.

We will see Luciano have a similar year to Matterson in 2019. Would not be surprised to see him in the Blues squad. If you are playing Fantasy or Supercoach I highly recommend picking him up. He's owned by very few people.

If the Manly trial is anything to go by Brooks could be our Terry Lamb. What made Baa Baa so good? You could tell nobody insisted he stay on one side of the field.

Canterbury owned the referees in those days, and Baa Baa got away with cheap hits and being offside all day.

Absolutely! Daine has already shown on two or three occasions he loves a scoot from the play the ball down a narrow left side. The potential carnage from BJ and LL being followed by Laurie's speed and evasiveness is mouth watering.

Talau at 14 and Packer are bizarre inclusions.

Can't understand why Simpkin would be left out.

I left Leichhardt thinking Packer had earned a bench spot. Also thought Simpkin and Simpkins would be in there. Don’t think they’ll have to wait long.

Interestingly McIntyre can't make the top 17 for the Titans. I'd much prefer him in our 17 than Packer.


He was never going to make their 17 - was only signed as a backup. No way would i have him over a fit and motivated Packer - hopefully thats who turns up on Sunday.

Maybe, but I haven’t seen that Packer since about 2017 when he wasn’t playing for us. Hope you’re right.

The only odd thing about Talau on the bench is so far he's only played wing and centre, unless I'm mistaken. It'd be a good wrong-un to pitch at the Raiders as they probably wont expect it if Mbye goes to D/H and he slots in at 5/8th, but does anyone know if he's done any training there?

I lime the idea of finding a spot for a top up and coming player like TT.

He can play halves and is a relativley big body also.

Agree.

I know it triggers people when people suggest centres move to the back row, but I think TT has a lot of the right attributes to do it, particularly the way the game is headed. Not sure he has quite enough speed to be a top line centre.

Most of his defensive issues are due to decision making and that's a bit easier in the back row than out in the centres.

He spent some time at 6 in the trial. THe fact that nobody recalls it, says everything.

he always. - ALWAYS supported up the middle. Scored so many tries that way. Last year we had no one doing that. Brooks and Laurie should be doing it all day

Luciano was doing this for the Dragons coming off the bench. Teams have known about him for years...he's just fitter, faster, stronger and more experienced now. Massive strike power on that edge for us. If teams want to load up on him, then they'll be leaving gaps in defence for Joey and Daine to exploit. You can't stop him!

Said this before, if our spine/other players play this smart - they can give a lot of early ball to damaging edge players. As soon as the opposition start rushing up or loading up on them expecting the early ball thrown - we dummy and attack straight up the middle.

I think he was just unfit , and didn’t understand what was required of a first grader . Plus if you don’t want to be somewhere , it’s hard to be motivated . Saints sounds like a real toxic culture .

Can't understand why Simpkin would be left out.

I can understand all the selection choices depending on how they are going to be utilised.

What troubles me more is not playing Liddle for 60 minutes or so in the proper trial to help prepare for big minutes, if as I am pretty sure one poster here who occasionally gives some good oil stated at the time, that we were only going with one specialist nine in Liddle to start the season. If the intent is to run Mbye there for a stint and I cannot imagine another filling the role, then I would prefer that Simpkin as a proper nine be there.

I think he was just unfit , and didn’t understand what was required of a first grader . Plus if you don’t want to be somewhere , it’s hard to be motivated . Saints sounds like a real toxic culture .

Maybe a little, but always thought he was underutilised at the dragons and why I expected he would more than make up for the loss of player in Matterson that he was replacing. Lucy is a true second rower, whilst the other a middle wannabe.

Looking forward to seeing him and those around him on the left really shining this weekend and into the season.
