Wests Tigers Team v Canberra Rd 5

walters will be a good player but Grant needs to play 80 mins he is a gun so i guess it was out of Reynolds or walters.
Talau is a big worry he is not a winger but hope he does well
lawrence is solid he will do well starting
really like seeing Packer back just shows you if you work hard with Madge you can get back.
I do like reynolds in the team as it will allow brooks to take control and let reynolds ad lib and go with the flow.
Good side overall

Centres should be better defenders than Wingers.....Talau is taller than both Thompson and Nofo and only 5cm (2 inches) shorter than Jennings...I'm not worried about him on the wing....

Jrey and Packer have an opportunity to show the NRL and ESL what they can do and whether they are worthy of another contract beyond their current one...so that should motivate them!

Whilst the team may yet change it is good to see some people put on notice. Hopefully as others have said this is the start of some accountability. I can seldom recall multiple players being dropped for performance the past several seasons following a bad loss. I know depth played a role in that but it’s good to see. If Garner was left out due to injury hopefully he can come back into the side for Lawrence. Let’s see if the message is received by the players and the mindset going into games like last weekend (against seemingly poorer opposition) starts to change.

Don't be, he is only 2inches shorter than Jennings but can jump 4 inches higher!...he has more aggression than Jennings too

He will be motivated than Jennings ever was.

This is Brooks time to shine, I have been saying Benji stifles Brooks for 2 years now, lets see if I was right or wrong, either way I am happy accountability is now on the table, and Grub will bring energy, and they will need every ounce on the weekend, but as Bob Dylan said, " The Times They Are a-Changin'"

It looks like grit has been chosen over flashiness. Lawrence will take dirty hit ups, Musgrove & Packer bring more aggression than Clark.

Mbye will earn his jack of all trades allowance if anyone in the spine goes down.

Big changes but will the team respond.
The bench is much better and a good change, Reynolds brings energy but leaves a lot up to Brooks - hopefully he steps up, Jennings had to go but I’m not sold on Talau on the wing but worth a go.

I agree re Walters being dropped. Don’t think it was anything to do with his game, more to do with how good Grant is. We need him out there for 80

Lawrence is smart defender and great at disrupting halves, if he does end up starting he will be there to put pressure on Williams. There was a game two years ago against the Storm in NZ, where Lawrence did a real number on Brodie Croft and was a big factor in winning us that game after starting as big underdogs.

No real issues with the other changes, although Harry Grant will be very busy without a break, hopefully with a bigger pack/bench this week he won't be called on to make as many tackles.

I think this had to happen. We lacked alot of punch when the front row went off even in the game we won. And the axe had to fall on a half due to our lack of late game management. I think benji being dropped probably has a little to do with age and contract length tbh.
I'm still concerned though as I dont see reynolds as the clam shit the game out type of half. Time will tell.

I love our pack and bench though. Big strong mean

Lawrence is a huge surprise to me but you've made a great point about him pressuring halves, no-one else in the squad does that.

Grit and mongrel is what we need

I thought Walters was unlucky.....

The others good on Madge for rattling everything up.....shows he has the minerals to lead.....

Lawrence on the field? One thing you won't miss out on is the courage and heart to play. He won't let you down in effort, it's just if his body is up for it which I unfortunately I doubt.....

It would be a kick in the backside for these young kids to be turfed for an older player......smart by madge

Had to be done.

Talau is not a winger though.

Happy with Lawrence starting, much worse coming off the bench.

Musgrove and Packer are good inclusions - I really feel Packer can find form again.

MCK is great off the bench, especially in a quicker game.

Sucks about Billy, would still have him instead of Seyfarth.

Well if the halves don’t perform this week surely Brooks will be dropped ?

Lawrence over Garner is a deadset stitch up

Good to see Reynolds Talau and cheeks get a run ..packer as well !

Hopefully Jennings has applied for a gig at Bunny..good riddance !

Garner is struggling with the deliberate elbow he copped to the throat from Taylor which forced him from the field..could still be a late inclusion..

Hope so
I like Garner

Well that good to know ..you now have 2 Wests Tigers players you like..

More like 5 but who’s counting ?

Didn’t Webster mention in preseason talau would most likely get his start on the wing. If that’s the case definitely would have trained for it

I think Lawrence has value in defence, kick pressure and being an 80 minute player. He's probably our best defensive player tbh. Garner isn't a bad defender though, but I think Garner rarely plays 80 and Luciano, Lawrence and Twal can all do 80 minutes or near enough meaning we can always have fresh props out there which in turn will take the defensive pressure off of Grant. I quite like the balance of the pack. Talau has played a bit of wing in reggies and tbh he dominated in his reggies games on the wing so I wouldn't be stunned if he has a real good game. He'll be a huge upgrade on Jennings at any rate.

Good to see changes...halves needed one to go.

Garner and Walters very unlucky.

Agree Ellery.
Benji's end is near anyway and he has been our best player this year.... so it is definitely Brooks that needed a spell. Madge got that wrong.
Also, I would never have picked Lawrence. His last few years have been woeful. I'm talking Buchanan-woeful. Un-pickable. This is just to appease romantics. Meh.
