Wests Tigers Team v Canberra Rd 5

Changes had to be made to put a rocket up the joint. So that alone is a positive move. Although I doubt this 17 will be the team that will be picked in a month, I think this team is all about seeing what others have to offer and making a statement to the roster. Anyway, will they beat the Raiders, probably not but I think you at least will see some enthusiasm

I guess unless you give these guys a run who are not being selected they will never be match fit. Best way to use your roster after a loss and when players under perform. Only one way to gauge how they are going is to select them, and it puts all players on notice.

Lawrence is smart defender and great at disrupting halves, if he does end up starting he will be there to put pressure on Williams. There was a game two years ago against the Storm in NZ, where Lawrence did a real number on Brodie Croft and was a big factor in winning us that game after starting as big underdogs.

No real issues with the other changes, although Harry Grant will be very busy without a break, hopefully with a bigger pack/bench this week he won't be called on to make as many tackles.

Lawrence is a huge surprise to me but you've made a great point about him pressuring halves, no-one else in the squad does that.

Agreed I was surprised to see him included, this year will likely be his last. But if we are going to use him he must start, as he looks very lost coming off the bench. I think people forget he is a wing/centre that was forced into the back row, he should never be used as a middle forward.

Well if the halves don’t perform this week surely Brooks will be dropped ?

Lawrence over Garner is a deadset stitch up

Good to see Reynolds Talau and cheeks get a run ..packer as well !

Hopefully Jennings has applied for a gig at Bunny..good riddance !

Garner is struggling with the deliberate elbow he copped to the throat from Taylor which forced him from the field..could still be a late inclusion..

Hope so
I like Garner

Well that good to know ..you now have 2 Wests Tigers players you like..

More like 5 but who’s counting ?

Chee-Kam, Garner, Reynolds and ummm nup got nothin..help me out

Just read the following - from an opposition fan - so finally see what a few posters have been trying to suggest to us fickle fans...re:Madge having a more strategic long-term plan for the team.

**Rest benji against raiders, since the likelihood of winning is not high. Motivates and puts the other players on notice for the rounds after. Builds confidence if they beat the dogs and cowboys.

We're all playing checkers, and maguires playing chess.**

After his spray can’t see him thinking like a loser.

If Madge is thinking this way at all he should be punted.

No coach should be resigned to losing and resting players due to thinking we have no chance

Yeah, also agree with @AdelaideTiger as the kick pressure is a big part of that and sorely lacking on Sunday.

When Lawrence is in the starting side you certainly know the cupboard is bare .

Wonder how many balls will flipper boy drop stone cold 😂

Hope Packer, Musgrove and Reynolds have a point to prove.
I can see plenty of 6 agains from these 3
Not sure it's a good idea to make so many changes at once.

Benji or Brooks had to go, so did Garner who has been MIA.
Mickaele is lucky to be there too, he's been ordinary, I don't think he's a starting prop.

Walters not on bench is a mystery, I liked the rotation with Grant

What a great bench...now lets see if this team can finally perform a full 80 minutes of pressure football..
good to see Madge has the guts and fortitude to make the changes that many said he wouldn't..

Be honest everyone...Im that happy atm Ive opened another bottle of Wild Turkey,I haven't been this happy on teamsheet day for yonks....yeee haa...

You better keep another bottle on hand for the game
You might need it
At least Madge is trying to stop the rot
We have all been waiting for change
Well now we have it
I hope guys like Reynolds Packer and Musgrove stand up because this could be their only chance to prove they can still compete in the NRL
with Lawrence also being named, that is a lot of experience coming back into the team

You wonder why this club can’t move forward Lawrence whould not make any other starting side, but of course we are the wests tigers

Why?

Is Garner immune. he did not play well.

Russel are you happy....

You couldn't wipe the smile off my face TT.

Hopefully for all our sakes, it is permanent.

Lawrence in for a starting spot, that’s surprising.

I'm going to be one of those blokes who refers to an alternative thread where I suggested Lawrence be promoted.

Kick pressure as well, which was non-existent against Titans.

walters will be a good player but Grant needs to play 80 mins he is a gun so i guess it was out of Reynolds or walters.
Talau is a big worry he is not a winger but hope he does well
lawrence is solid he will do well starting
really like seeing Packer back just shows you if you work hard with Madge you can get back.
I do like reynolds in the team as it will allow brooks to take control and let reynolds ad lib and go with the flow.
Good side overall

Talau is not a winger - why would you worry about that?

Jennings wasn't a football player.

There is a common theme in team selection. Madge has replaced all players with harder runners and more forwards.

Talau for Jennings
Musgrove for Clark
Packer for Walters
Reynolds for Benji
Lawrence/MCK for Garner

We are going to lose this game perfect time for a shake up.

Geez Madge has had a cleanout and your being ….NEGATIVE...

Raiders off a loss. We don’t have the cattle to beat them.
