i wonder if Mbye can find his 2018 form against the raiders

where he absolutely carved them up

that would be nice. I am just going to watch this game and just hope for the best even though I know we would be demolished or humiliated

We're just too inconsistent I'm afraid, and even in the two wins we have managed, the team didn't play the full 80 minutes. Can't afford that against a side like Canberra.

Absolutely right willow,I watched the Madge presso after the GC loss...he was filthy and mentioned what you said, they have to play for 80 mins and hes sick of the inconsistency within the club...

Reports are that Luciano will stay on the left edge and Lawrence will play on the right. Assuming brooks will have more footy than Reynolds it’s a good move, Luciano has been one of our best attacking weapons this season so far.

It seems that, indeed, Garner was dropped (as opposed to left out for his throat knock)

Does anyone have an idea as to a specific reason why? Didn't pressure kickers? Not involved enough?

His form seemed really decent. His one on one defense massively improved.

I thought Garner played solidly on the weekend. Maybe not solidly enough or maybe was instructed to do something and didn't. Hopefully he's back soon.

His stats are not great with ineffective tackles and think he missed a few crucial ones on the weekend. Picked up an injury, other players itching for a game that are available. All for some rotation during the season, but he should be back into the side long term.

Don't know why but i'm a bit confident about this weekend

I’m confident we won’t get towled. Don’t know why the majority think we will.

I'm in that majority unfortunately. In our last 7 games against Canberra we're 1-6 with a F/A of -206. Hoping for the best but expecting the worst.

That can’t continue forever though. Once again it’s an attitude thing. The tigers need to invest in a sports psychologist seriously. Because the talent is there . It’s totally mental .

'Benji knows what he needs to do': Tigers coach defends mass changes

Benji Marshall knows what he needs to do to win his spot back in the Wests Tigers starting side.

And there is no reason to be worried about the head space of Josh Reynolds, Marshall's five-eighth replacement who had to endure the fallout from recording a false positive at a police roadside drug test at the start of the week.

Wests Tigers coach Michael Maguire took time out from what has been a rollercoaster week for the joint venture to speak about the five team changes, including the decision to leave fan favourite Benji Marshall out of the Canberra clash.

Maguire made it known after Sunday's shock loss to the Gold Coast he was tired of the club's inconsistent performances - the Tigers have won three games in a row just once the past three years - and would shake things up.

"I understand everyone wants to make this about Benji," Maguire said on Thursday. "Benji was one of five players dropped because of his performance. Benji knows what he needs to do.

"I can see him bouncing back. He will bounce back. Benji is a winner and he wants what we all want at this club, and that's winning.

"This club needs to change. I've come to this club to build a consistent and high-performing team, and the players know what I want.

"The ones who perform at the level I want each week will keep getting their opportunities.

"It's very simple. I just want 17 men doing their jobs for 80 minutes each week."

Marshall is extremely popular with the players, but Maguire did not anticipate any backlash from the playing group for doing what former Tiger great Robbie Farah described as "cutting the head off the leader".

Maguire made a similarly tough call to axe Nathan Merritt at the height of his popularity with South Sydney fans in 2014, the year the Redfern club went on to win the competition without the cult-hero winger.

"It won't backfire at all," Maguire said. "The club needs to change. I keep saying it. And if we keep doing the same thing, and given the history of where this club has been, we'll keep getting the same result.

"If we need to change things again we will.

"I know the history of this club, and I've also seen what it looks like at the other end when you win a premiership, and that's where I want to take this club.

"This team is very capable. That's why it's frustrating when we don't get the results."

Marshall has often praised Maguire for his work ethic and said during his weekly appearance on NRL 360 this week how he was "shocked and disappointed" to be dumped, but added: "I will train hard and fight my way back into the team somewhere, whether that is next week or not, I will do my best to get back."

Meanwhile, Reynolds has had a trying time in recent months away from the field, including domestic violence charges that were withdrawn by former partner Arabella Del Busso - whose real name is Donna Preusker - then Monday morning's roadside drug test that returned a false positive.

Maguire, however, said his livewire was not an emotional risk ahead of his first game in the No.6 since round seven last year.

"I've never seen so much enthusiasm from Grubby like I have seen the last 48 hours," Maguire said. "He's been very good. He's been through tough periods in life, but what he loves doing is playing footy, and once he gets on that footy field his only focus is on what he has to do for this side.

"Over the last month we've worked hard with him on areas in his game and growing him as a player, and we've seen that [progression] at training. Everyone sees Grubby for his enthusiasm, but what we've worked on over the last little period of time will make him better again."

Benji usually does all the talking in the team huddles, it will be interesting to see who takes charge this weekend. Hopefully there wont be too many huddles as we wait for Croker to attempt the conversion.

On till we get some mongrel into our pack we will never be a top team , our backs will never dominate while the pack does not take control . It’s that simple .

Still think Doehie would be a better option then Mbye at centre with Thomson at fullback. The attack would rock.

Well if Packer is fit and genuinely wants to keep his spot we just might get to see some leadership in that area. We can only hope.

Mbye to fullback, Doehie to 5/8, Talau to centre and Thompson to wing, that would be a pretty good backline. These would be my additional changes.

Grub's third drug test has returned negative, so he'll definitely be there this weekend.

The apology from slothfield is in the mail on its way to the south pole

If I were Grub I'd stand in the foyer of the Errorgraph and bail him up when he inevitably slinks out at lunch for a sly few dozen schooners.
