Wests Tigers Team v Canberra

Am I the only one who can remember the days when by this stage in the evening we would be at page 16 and Forum members were organizing hits on other Forum members

He'd be reminiscing about offering Laurie Daley out front at Leichhardt this weekend.

there's something about our games against Canberra that i just dread watching....every season i never look forward to the game. I hate admitting that

Used to be the opposite! There are only 4 current sides against whom WT have a winning record and Raiders are one of them (others: Warriors, Sharks, Cowboys; equal with Knights).

Despite a few recent floggings, between 2009-2014 (a loss in 2014 Rd 25) we won 10/11 against Raiders, including a 7-match winning streak between 2009-2011.

Our last 3 wins against Raiders - by 2 points or less!

Wests Tigers Head Coach Michael Maguire has confirmed that Chris Lawrence will return from injury against the Canberra Raiders on Friday night at Bankwest Stadium.

After missing the entirety of the 2019 season so far due to a horrific facial injury suffered in the pre-season, Lawrence had been named as part of the 21-man squad for Wests Tigers for the first time as part of Tuesday's team announcement.

Maguire confirmed the good news of his inclusion at a press conference today, telling reporters that the 30-year-old would be part of the team on Friday.

"He'll be playing," Maguire told reporters today.

"I can't wait to see him run back out there in the jersey.

"I think it's an incredible story to have see him be in the position he was way back in the pre-season to where he is now. It's an incredible achievement just to play, and I know that he wants to get back out there with the teammates that he loves.

"He's a big part of what we're doing here and I can't wait to see him out on the field.

"I think he's going to be fantastic for us."

Lawrence nearing a return from horrific facial injury
Having sustained 11 facial fractures, Lawrence's extensive recovery wasn't unnoticed by Maguire, who spoke of the veteran forward's mental toughness.

"He's amongst our leaders and he's been helping a lot of our younger guys coming through for some time now," Maguire said.

"We've been talking amongst the senior players about how we want to be as a team, and I think to have a guy like that back is a major boost for us.

"We're not happy with where we are at the moment — we want to climb up that ladder like everyone. We've got a high expectation of each other and what we expect, and Chris will certainly help bring that this weekend."

Ah Madge bro, not wanting to excessively nit-pick, but if Rowdy is going to play why did you name him as #20?

Fair enough if you were giving him the week to sort out his contact fitness, but you literally named the team 18 hours ago.

Wow, big call if you ask me given he's going to be gassed after 5 minutes - nervous energy will only take you so far but I guess he'll be coming off the bench at some stage so you'd think MCK might make way for him.

Rowdy to score a double against Raiders, and Brooksie to Kick a field goal before half time

everyones morale just doubled

I can't see Rowdy letting himself play if he will let us down or isn't quite ready

I don't see it in him ......team before individual

Who does Rowdy come in for .. Chris McQueen .. or will Rowdy come off the bench for ..?? Liddle .. ??

true.... but at the end of the day, madge is the coach and he is the person who makes the best possible decsions for the club, so if he deems that Rowdy is fit and ready, than so be it i guess
