Wests Tigers Team v Canterbury Rd 7

Can sense some nerves on here. It is the type of game we typically lose and their pack does look tough but surely there are a few too many point in us.

The one for mine that has to really step up this week is Mikaele. I rate him but I think he has been mediocre in recent weeks. Josh is leading well up front but can't do it on his own. Eiso, Clark and Elijah will do a reliable job in defence but won't offer a huge amount with the ball and so the one who has to create some real momentum, get over the ad line and create some second phase is Mikaele. Needs a big one!

The fact that the Titans game was only 2 weeks ago will be a big factor in why we won’t be complacent. The Dogs are a gutsy side, not sure why people think it’s only a matter of us turning up.

if the dogs pack can stop Josh Aloia that stops our go forward with no Twal to back him up. i am not confident as Canterbury pack is solid

Game 50 for Luciano this week. Crazy how quickly Madge has changed him as a player. Went from an unfit impact player who played 20 mins to a reliable 80 minute player who does all the tough stuff as well as scoring tries.

Love his energy on the field too, really happy we signed him.

Not really more to do with Mary being a flop..Leilua played 5 starting games ie 80min for the Drags in 2019 ..3 in a row in the final rounds was great in each scored a double in one..as a starter he had Frizzell and T Sims in front of him..If Maguire had Frizzell and T Sims here too I'd dare say Leilua would be coming off the bench too..

He also ave 41mins a game in 2019 not 20..which is about right for a bench forward..

Going great here..

There’s clearly a notable difference in his physique and his game though. Looks a good 10 kilos lighter and instead of having small bursts of impact and then getting found out in defence he’s balanced his game out a lot better. Gotta give credit to him and Madge for that

Disagree.

He was used as an impact player off the bench at Saints.

However I saw him play quite a few games of 80 minutes and he was fit and one of their top defenders, who offloaded quite a bit.

Madge is just playing him 80 minutes all the time and stopped most of the off loads.

He has him slightly fitter (I emphasize slightly fitter), that is all I will give Madge credit for.

He was no where near one of their top defenders. Routinely got caught out in defence especially when he played longer minutes for dragons because his fitness wasn’t there. Is a much more well rounded and balanced player now. He’s dropped a good ten kilos easy.

Mikaele is the one Jedi. This is his week to step up

Agree 100%. I loved him starting earlier in the season and I can see that Madge has him off the bench to maintain go forward on the interchange. I was surprised at how late he was brought on last week but thought he made a big impact and looked hard to handle in an otherwise tiring pack.

I have a bit of a sinking feeling too.

WTS we're due Foran had a wow of a game against us last year so did Lewis and winger Okenbor we are a better team this year improving each week

Yeah, it's just our youthful pack that has me concerned against a pretty strong one. That and the fact that they desperately need a win for their coach and we so often crash against the lesser teams.

I agree that these are the games we usually lose. I am not confident.

But here's hoping the team can finally turn the corner, or begin to, and be the better team ad win the game.

IMO this game decides our season

Getting Finals footy means we have to break the drought of losing to teams like this

Talau to get a double

Nah ...
Time to get something back ?

On the plus side, if wests loose you can effectively write of the season earlier than usual.

I'd be tempted to play Walters instead of Reynolds.

Woah careful with those crazy suggestions in here magic. Reynolds tries hard and requires continual encouragement in here. Credit where its due.

I just cant understand why the Coach of this team isn't tempted to play Walters at 5/8 or put him on the bench....maybe he knows something more than we do...
I like Walters and he seems to have a go everytime he goes out there,,,but Im not the coach...JR must be doing what Madge needs him to do,maybe that's why he is selected to play 5/8...

I agree with you TT. For mine Walters matches Reynolds in his only asset which is effort and energy. IMO there is nothing else in JR's game that Walters couldnt match, plus much more upside. Maybe its an experience thing Madge sees but again in my IMO, Reynolds is not going to be calling plays so I dont see why that would be a factor.

So, ***Brooks with around 150 games to his credit needs hand holding for experience.*** Surely the writing has to hazily appearing on the wall for Brooks. Can't WT at least start to look at other options?

How did you get that from my post? I dont think Brooks needs his hand held. Again, I would have Walters instead of Reynolds.

I don't get it either...surely we want the best out whoever plays..not at the exclusion of another..

Comparing what each 5/8 brings..thought it was a reasonable post and comparison

Im not sure what's going on here, but it seems like questioning Reynolds place in the team is prompting some strong reactions lately.

I would like to see Benji on the bench in case we are chasing points in the 2nd half, like last week. He could also cover for quick rests for Harry or Reynolds, which would improve our strike power. Make no mistake, this will be a very hard game to win, points will be vital and I am not sure we have the strike in us, despite last weeks first half.
