We basically played the dreaded Taylor Ball on the weekend, in another second season of coaching by the incumbent, in potentially our ninth successive year of not playing finals footy, currently sitting ninth once again and some are saying we should just accept that as our fate as we are rebuilding.

If Maguire is half as good as many on here think/thought him to be, then WT should be playing the first week of finals at the bare minimum. He says that he has assembled a capable squad that he believes in, so it is up to him to carry out his remit, with failure not an option in these circumstances.

Definitely no pass mark from my end if we don't make the eight!

I am not sure how to do a poll but would be interested to know who would extend Madge if we don't make the 8 this year? Normally, coaches are extended well before the end of their tenure, so if we don’t extend him coming into his final season does that say something?

Personally, I think he will see his contract out. Not sure about an extension though.

Everyone is blaming the wrong people , Madge didn't change the rules mid season

That is why we will struggle in 2020 and probably 2021 , are line up just doesn't suit the new rule changes

Think the jury is still out on that issue, but we got flogged by the knights under the old ones and only beat the imploding dragons in the other match.

Madge made an error going with the same left side defensive combo ....Marshall and Lucy were just way too slow and the Knights were always going to test us ...Drags had of hung on to their passes they win as well

In the now , if we can't get half decent speed play the balls , can't get Grant on the front foot and most importantly can't get Brooks prepared to play flat and with an open mind and being prepared to follow Grant through hell in that middle 3rd we aren't a hope in hell of being competitive in 2020

Luciano and Grant both in doubt for this weekends game apparently. Gonna be tough without them especially without Grant.

Madge just needs to buy a couple of mongrel A grade forwards , and I think the rest will fall into place .

Here .. here .. !!

If Leilua and Grant are't playing ..hope they are ruled out Friday and drop out of the team or my Fantasy side is going to struggle..

Grant has a broken hand but still playing

Don’t think it’s a broken hand... sounds like something small, just has to pass the fitness test and he’s good to go. Can’t play with a broken hand that’s for sure

I think Madge should be extended. He needs time to change the squad properly as well as the mentality of the playing group. He can't exactly come out and say I don't think we'll make the 8 this year. He needs to give us some hope.

He probably doesn’t come out and say it because he probably doesn’t believe it to be true. We’re 5 rounds in to the an abreiviated season and only out of the 8 on P/D. If he truly believed we couldn’t make the 8 from here, why’s he in the job? I guarantee you he would not be looking towards next year, and to suggest otherwise is ridiculous.

As for the squad, he’s in his second year, and I’d say a good 75% of the squad he has either signed or re-signed. That excuse is one you trot out when the coach is battling on with a squad that his successor put together.

No way it’s 75% and at the same time you have to remember we had no salary cap to work with. He’s not brought in many players from outside the club and in some cases has only been able to work with what he’s got. Gotta wait and see who he signs for next year considering we have a decent amount of salary cap

15 out of the 21 in the side named this week were either signed or re-signed by him. I’m not good with maths, but i’d say that come close to 75%. .

Again, how much salary cap has he had to work with? A signing like Jennings for example, was absolutely last minute because he was the only cheap available winger with some experience and we desperately need a winger. If he has more room in the cap Im sure he signs someone else.

There’s plenty of good players no doubt but we are a long way away from being a top 8 team on paper. I think we over achieved last year with our roster so Madge is getting them going pretty well. Finishing 8th is definitely possible but I’m thinking next year is the year where the pressure is on Madge.

I'm not bagging Madge at here, I like him alot. But we had $1mill for Lattrell who we didnt land so we had some room.

Was closer to $800k, we signed Doueihi, Blore and Leilua with that money so not bad signings really. Doueihi gonna end up being very good for us
