Well, IMO, Maguire certainly has shown his hand with Josh Reynolds.
There is conflicting information coming out of the camp with regards to JR.
Benji said last night on NRL 360 that JR has trained the house down and has been injury free all pre-season, whereas, Maguire gave his reasons for not selecting JR in the top 17 as he has been injured and has only been good the last 2 weeks and he needs get fitter in ISP…hmmmm
In my view, Madge doesn’t see Josh Reynolds as his long term 5/8 to partner Luke Brooks. I think we will see them expedite the development of Jock Madden in 2019 with a view of promoting Madden to the top 30 in 2020\. I see Madge doing the same as what Brad Arthur is doing with his halves in having the up and coming Dylan Brown partnering Moses. A Brooks/Madden combination is what I expect to see in 2020\.
Josh Reynolds will “get the message” that Madge does not rate him and hopefully seeks a Super league contract during 2019.
If true, I agree, the style of game Josh plays as a 5/8 doesn’t cut it in this day and age. He has a poor passing game, a poor kicking game and doesn’t have much speed. His best assets is his support play and displays loads of enthusiasm on the field. For $750k we should expect and deserve more than that!...It’s not JR’s fault he was offered by Cleary a 4year mega contract and who wouldn’t take that.....
