WESTS Tigers Team V Manly

Not bad, not bad. Glad to see Sue get his chance off the bench and Twal deserves a starting spot based on form. With Aloiai and Sue off the bench, we do have a bit more impact.

Surprised Lolohea is dropped but with DCE kicking game, Thompson is probably the safer option at 1.

We will need to be tight up the middle when Sue comes on.

I think Ivan will bring J Rey on to start at 6.
25 Min: Benji on, J Rey to hooker
55 Min: Jrey off. Liddle back on.

I think that's what he was pretty much planning at the start of the year. Would prefer Benji to finish the game over JRey

That makes a lot of sense. Keeps everyone fresh and plays to their strengths.

Looking stronger in attack with Thompson at fullback and Nofo on the wing
I hope Nofos defence holds tight this game
Its the best Defensive side Tigers
Up against
The 2nd best attacking side Manly
Will be a good contest
To me our bench looks stronger then Manlys bench
I believe that is where we will win
We won't lose any go forward when our bench players come on
Stronger start to the game with Liddle on
Reynolds will be dangerous if he can play without mistakes

Lolihea needs to get his fitness together or might spend the rest of the season in reserve grade. He is carrying pudding. He ran for 46 M on the weekend and did not look an attacking threat.

I am not prepared to cut him the slack others are. 80% fit is not good enough for this team.

This side is fit and hungry and on a hot day at Brookvale Thompson is far far the better option.

Great team selection overall Ivan.

Gee we have reached the point where we can drop people from a winning team ha.

Maybe Cleary wants to introduce a new tactic to RL as in Cricket where with an even balanced squad you get player rotation horses for courses and also for squad harmony and not to allow them to burn out with their high intensity game plan..

I tend to agree, I was surprised that Lolohea didn't get to the in goal grubber Melbourne put in and almost scored on last week….he was very slow getting to the ball....Tui needs to lift his output in games .....I guess that's what Ivan is seeking!.

Maybe

I think he is just dropping players that are not playing well. He is not afraid to change a winning team which really keeps everyone motivated.

i just think he tries to pick the best 17 for each game which sounds simple.

I thought Lolo all but one the game for us getting the 7 tackle set. I thought he did well.

I guess with Packer our mood will help get a good start to our sets.

Would be nice to have a quality kicker in the side.

Yeah well the more i think about it i think that what you say is true but also our game is based on high intensity respect for the club and each other and to maintain that rotation is necessary to avoid burnout and factionalism developing where 8 or so guys going good never getting a crack.
I've been confident every game this year but not so much this week noticed last week talk and intensity was a bit lower and the players in their own mind would have been thinking about the first 5 games for months and this game could be a bit of a letdown. But now with a new injection of hungry players like Reynolds Sue Nofo Grant this should provide the energy required to keep the roll going.
Time to look at the odds.

Like this side a lot. Before round 1 I wanted Tui at fullback but Thompson has outplayed him at full back and seems much fitter at the moment. Goal kicking is a concern though.

I like Sue on the bench and Twal starting as Twal can play big minutes and Sue will provide more impact.

Manly are great at breaking the line up the middle. Thompson has been the clear better defensive fullback in 2018 so far… I would love Tui for his kicking but I think he needs abit more match fitness.
