You haven’t made any point at all. I agree there are many players that are on thin ice but there needs to be the players to replace them with in the first place. I’m not sure if you’ve watched any CC games but there aren’t any players there worthy of a promotion.
Basically, you’re very angry with Maguire for not making changes but you have no idea what changes should be made.

I have stated many times in the last few years when people keep saying we have no one to bring in, so what, who cares, you drop the underperformers, replace them with young blokes, reserve graders, hell it doesn't matter, you create accountability.
Keep picking the same players who play poorly 3 out of every 4 games, and that's what you will get, hold them accountable and they might just play good 3 out of 4, if not send them packing Bellamy style.

You can't just throw any young reserves player in because you wanna drop a first grader... They must be ready at that stage of their development... It's not the way you do it.

I guess we could replace dropped players with players that have already been dropped... Or we can persist and work hard on what we need to work on with the 'best' we have

Please re-state your point then, I must have missed it.
Sounds like alot of hot air to me.

His point is simple. He wants Maguire to drop all our underperformers but, for reasons not yet explained, does not want to suggest who they get replaced with.
Also, anyone who does not subscribe to this half written essay, is a defeatist not worthy of an alternate opinion.
As for me, I like the coaches idea of sticking with and working with the players that in his very experienced opinion, thinks are the best of the bunch that we currently have available to us.
Simple

@Russell
I have no problem with dropping Jennings, Mbye or others for that matter, in the hope that it will spur them to better their performance. If that's the reason Packer was dropped, all good. But in Packers case WT has alternatives. Not so much when calling for Jennings Mbye and Marsters to all be dropped at the same time. Who are the viable alternatives?
Re settling for mediocrity. I find that to be one of the most humorous 'insults' thrown around on this forum. I think if you scroll back through the Fast foods, TV favourites and music thread pages you will get an excellent overview on who here is most likely to settle for mediocrity.

It is pretty simple.

My point is not that so and so deserves to be promoted. My point is that if we keep rewarding mediocrity and under performing players we will never get anywhere.

Its not that complicated.

Reality is that Maguire is new to the club, he has a little more patience than some of us and hasnt seen this all before. He will learn.

Guys like Brooks, Mybe, Mahe, Marsters, Jennings etc will not be at this club long term if they keep playing how they are playing.

Pretty simple.

@NT_Tiger

I'm not advocating mass sackings as I said NT.

Momirovski for Jennings. That is one change.

Mbye on notice I said. Thompson to FB and Nofo on wing if he doesn't improve.

Marsters I think should be told to forget the jink and run straight and hard. A lot more difficult to replace if he doesn't shape up. Would have to take a risk and play a non-centre if he doesn't come good. I think he will.

@Russell Nofo on the wing??? He was called to be dropped all of bloody last year for his poor defence and now you want him back because Mbye is playing poorly? So you want to drop someone to accomodate someone we all wanted dropped previously... Soon enough, when we leak points on Nofos side like all of last year, you'll be calling for Nofo to be dropped and cussing out Madge for not acting quick enough. Like plenty have said before, the reason Mbye, Brooks, Jennings, Marsters are not getting dropped is because there is no one better who deserves to be there. Seriously, it's like a sad cycle.

@Russell
Yeah I got no dramas with any of that.
Sorry I think I got my wires crossed in my response. I was responding to the idea of mass changes just to teach individual players a lesson, and I couldn't see how that could be achieved with any chance of a successful team make up.
I'm no fan of Jennings, but it appears Maguire must see something in him, and I'm disappointed in Mbye and can only think he's still injured.

I would still like it explained to me why the Clubs initial offer to Brooks was for 3 years only ..when Maguire came in he increased it to 4 years..to me that doesn't speak of a player Maguire doesn't want around long term..He also recruited Jennings to the Club so I'm not sure he won't be around either and made Mbye the Clubs captain..when he had other options for that role..

I don't think Maguire is a novice coach so these decisions don't really compute to one just new to the Club..

I might be wrong but didn’t Jennings lead the team in attacking metres and post contact metres on the weekend?

@TigersBusDriver

I'll just say one thing to your comment that there is no one better than Jennings.

Mate! a brown dog would be better than him. In fact I would rather we play with 12 men.

@avocadoontoast Not sure Avo - didn't see the statistics - if he did it would be the only thing he has done since he joined us. Seeing our go forward was almost non existent I wouldn't be surprised if he did.

He is a bigger bludger in hard work than his brother Michael and that is saying something, believe me.

Of Course....

Penrith five-eighth James Maloney is free to play against Wests Tigers on Friday at Suncorp Stadium in the NRL’s Magic Round.

Ahh, the selection hokey pokey. You put your left centre in, you throw your right centre out, you put a bench player in and then you shake it all about.

Packer has now done his 2 week penance, he can return to the side in place of Marsters or Brooks

@innsaneink

We are already one third into the season. This is precisely well enough to make a judgment call. Maguire is just PLODDING.
Are we supposed to wait till the next third of the season is complete and our chances of making the 8 are less than getting the spoon?
Good lord
Maguire for Chrissakes make changes or drink from the chalice.

Not sure about all this hoo-ha criticising the coach for not dropping enough players.

McQueen got dropped Rd 1 but has been given another go.
Packer got dropped.
Reynolds got dropped Rd 1 and brought back because Benji injured
Nofo hasn't seen FG
Rochow hasn't seen FG
ET has been dropped twice
Huth was dropped Rd 1 and recalled
Mikaele got dropped Rd 3-ish

That's a lot of the 2018 roster and one new bloke spending "thinking" time in reggies.

I personally have no problem dropping anyone so long as you are replacing them with a capable footballer. People keep talking about "sending a message" to players, but if you are replacing them with rubbish players, then you are biting your nose to spite your face.

I would argue that Madge, of any coach past 10 years, has shown as much willingness as I've ever seen to drop players. Packer is on a big deal with us and it's ballsy to cut him so early in the season. It's also ballsy not to call up Nofo yet, who is also on a reasonably new deal.

In my opinion this is the weakest lineup we've fielded this year and I'd hate to see how it looked if Mbye, Marsters and Fonua were all in ISP.

@Harvey not sure that’s exactly what he was trying to say Harv, nun’ my business tho lol

Jirskyr makes a great point above that I concur has to be likeforlike and a similar caliber player.

Better an out of form Maloney than Jerome Luai, imo. Though I thought Maloney deserved at least a week off for that tackle on Bateman. How could they look at that video and not find him guilty is beyond my comprehension.
