@Spud_Murphy easy - they are playing WestsTigers.

Well I reckon they've actually done us a favour, unintentional of course 😂

Was thinking this myself. I think I remember that other half tearing it up last year

One of the centres could still be dropped you people realise? Momirovski is a more defensive option than Jennings and Marsters and given our defensive issues of late he may be a real help. Might be handy to have 2 goal kickers in the squad too, not that we've had to make too many kicks on goal of late.

You haven’t made any point at all. I agree there are many players that are on thin ice but there needs to be the players to replace them with in the first place. I’m not sure if you’ve watched any CC games but there aren’t any players there worthy of a promotion.
Basically, you’re very angry with Maguire for not making changes but you have no idea what changes should be made.

I have stated many times in the last few years when people keep saying we have no one to bring in, so what, who cares, you drop the underperformers, replace them with young blokes, reserve graders, hell it doesn't matter, you create accountability.
Keep picking the same players who play poorly 3 out of every 4 games, and that's what you will get, hold them accountable and they might just play good 3 out of 4, if not send them packing Bellamy style.

You can't just throw any young reserves player in because you wanna drop a first grader... They must be ready at that stage of their development... It's not the way you do it.

I guess we could replace dropped players with players that have already been dropped... Or we can persist and work hard on what we need to work on with the 'best' we have

Agree Ink.

You run the risk of totally destroying a player (Matt Groat comes to mind,) and on top that, should they perform even worse than the first grader you've dropped, who do you move on to then? The kids in SG ball or Harold Matts?

There has to be an viable alternative to go to when you talk of dropping players. Putting a kid or reggie on the altar of sacrifice to make a point to an under performing first grader is not an answer, especially at a club like ours where I find tends to play well or poorly as a unit. There's always an outlier or two where one or two guys might stand out in a poor team or vice versa, but the team generally goes to pot in unison. Where do you go from there? Promote the CC side and instead of losing by 20 you lose by 50?

Momirovski, Gamble, Noffa surely they are not going to be damaged by playing NRL, they could easily slot in and play as good as the so called first graders

Roosters dropped Mitchell not that long ago. Its not about the Gambles or Momirovski's lol. Its about how guys like Brooks and Mybe would react if they were held accountable for their actions.

Some players come back and go on to be even better. Others you dont renew their contracts and find someone better.

They dropped Latrell because he was being a douchebag, not because he wasn't performing on-field.

He wanted to be a FB and they had RTS. Then RTS left and they bought Tedesco. Roosters wanted Latrell to be a centre and he didn't want to be paid to be a centre. He was, what, 18 and wanting the recognition alongside the hype.

Roosters dropped him to show him who was boss, not because he wasn't performing to his ability. It's different. No hell no way would Roosters have ever let Latrell go, in the way you are suggesting of players who don't "come back better".

@851 are they setting the CC alight? If not, then why bother?

Gamble has played at centre in two games and has had zero try assists or tries in that position. Momo has 1 try and 1 try assist and his defence is statistically worse than Marsters and Jennings, Nofo has 1 try and has barely featured in CC.

Jennings has scored three tries and Marsters 1 try and 2 try assists. So arguably better than anything on offer in state cup which is why Madge probably is reluctant to drop either.

So Mybe looked to be tanking or at the very least not trying very hard last week. As a captain i find that much more of an issue than an 18yo wanting his recognition.

As i said last night we have been humiliated two of our last 3 games. The people most responsible for that happening are playing again.

Some people are ok with that, some are not. Some people dont mind calling out the club when they see it doing the wrong thing. Others just tow the establishment line. Been the same way and the same people on each side of it since Sheens and Adam Blair, since plod and bomb or the Farah and Taylor thing, since Clearys body language etc.

Im still a fan of Maguire but i think he got this weeks selection wrong.

@Cultured_Bogan Hang on CB.

Jimmy the Blacksmith could have scored the tries Jennings has scored.

Just about all the ones he scored for Souffs last year as well.

I hope one day someone loves me as much as you hate Robert Jennings.

@avocadoontoast

Don't hate Jennings at all - not partial to impostors.

I will say one thing in his favor - he is not a centre and never will be.

Just telling it like it is Avo.

Run 1 - 15 metres put the ball down over the line. Doubt he had to beat anyone in any of about 20 tries (stand corrected though).

And that nullifies the fact his replacements are not setting the world on fire how?

That's not entirely true the TRY he scored of a Farah kick where he beat the defender to the ball was a good effort..

I'm not a great fan of Jennings either but he certainly wasn't bludging against the Rorters..made a lot of dirty hit up's in that game..

I'd be wondering in a 40 metre foot race after Brooks and Mbye who would be next quickest in the backline ......Thommo perhaps

Easily Happy. Aside from that though, some of the posts in this thread around team selections...sheesh:joy:

I'm as disappointed in Jennings as much as the next person thus far, but the last few matches have had him holding his own, thou still without much spark, let alone setting the world on fire. Maybe it is fitness that was holding him back, as he certainly looks like he is lumbering around with WT and did not deserve to be picked after a few rounds.

A far cry from the player that I would like to have signed long ago.

Certainly not Jennings or Mahe Fonua.I am sure a few of our forwards would outspeed them.

On Panthers front -

Panthers Waqa Blake has been omitted after misreading the schedule and being late for training, while Hame Sele has been withdrawn with a minor back complaint

Interesting one. Didn't Fonua "misread the schedule" last year for us too?

I'd be doing an audit to find out why the club would have allowed the implementation of a schedule that allows for misreading by footballers. Surely the Head of Scheduling should be held accountable!!
