How many losses before we see the Simpkinseses’s/s?

I’m most looking forward to both of them in the seventeen. I can understand madge sticking with the previous 17. If he is going to drop non performing players from round 1 then atleast 7 or 8 shouldn’t be there and that’s not going to happen after one game.

Looking at that bench I would guess Mbye will give Liddle a rest and Talau covers injuries in the back line/back row..

Last week Mikaele played 35mins Utoikamanu 33 mins Tommy 21 mins and Packer a blistering 11 mins..

Terrible coaching.


Why wouldn’t you put a specialist hooker to replace Liddle especially when you have talau there as back cover?????!

People forget that Simpkin has not even played 5 games of reserve grade! He will get a run eventually, have patience. The worst thing you can do is throw kids in too early and they struggle because of it and Tigers have done that 1000 times. Madge is a very good judge of when rookies are ready so I trust him to know when to put Jake in.

You must have missed my point. Whilst I would like to see Simpkin and Simpkins in the 17, I don’t think it would be wise to make wholesale changes after one round. I agree with madge here.

Reckon there’s a touch of sheenius about this bench that’s been selected.
Our starting middle third is worlds away from last year, hopefully we can roll forward again like we did against Canberra.
Looks to be some opportunity for redemption for one or two players as well.
Hopefully we are spending a tonne of time on ball security, discipline, general play kicking and our offensive game plan (though I suspect AD’s inclusion alone will help with this).

Well done coach all I have heard in the off season is how a cultural change has happened !Well Garner thinks that stupidity is FUNNY and obviously so does the coach . This is the problem nothing changes until players are held accountable, Garner should be nowhere near the team after his actions on the weekend ..would he be playing this week if Bellamy or Robinson where the coach after that performance and reaction to it don't think so ..that's why these teams are winners . The mediocrity train is still motoring along at the Tigers .

You would have to ask Maguire..

Maybe Mbye covers Hooker and fullback dunno Talau the rest..but going off last weeks rotation remembering Tamou had an HIA i can't see either Mbye or Talau playing big minutes unless injury strikes..

Hoping Garner can look better in attack this week with Doueihi back in the team, really hoping he doesn't do anything dumb defending.

Looking at the way this bench situation is starting to pan out I'm beginning to wonder if there is going to be a spot for Mbye in the near future.

Mbye is certainly looking like the odd man out for a long term run in the 17 man squad.

I would rather have Simpkins in there for 35 minutes
20 before half time and 15 after half time
He can share that roll with Mikaele
Even if it's just to defend

This is the team Madge wanted for game one. He doesn’t want to wreck their confidence any further by making changes. He will be drilling into them there roles this week. Look for more line speed in defence and a more fluent attack. I am backing them in for a much better 80 minutes!

I think Tommy could be a very good ball playing lock, similar to Cameron Murray but slightly bigger and faster. Plus he was a 5/8 coming through so has good ball playing skills.

Garner has shown over a long period he’s not up to it.

Let’s take some chances. Get Simpkins or Tuilagi in there. Get rid of Mbye and give Simpkin a go. We need a fresh, vibrant side.
