WESTS Tigers Team V Roosters...

My concern is Marsters in the centers good player but remember him beaten on the outside a couple of times by Mitchell last year so for me that is not acceptable for an outside back. I would've played Milne there but still a solid team in with a chance.

No problem with the MCK pick here.

He was an average player under Jason Taylor but going by the trials looks to really have come under a different style of coaching.

That's all we really want, our players to improve and be better.

Apart from the earlier reported surprise of Nofa being left out, this side is what you would expect. I thought Godinet would get the nod ahead of MM, Aloiai is apparently injured otherwise he would be in the 17\. McQueen is simply not ready yet and neither is Sue.

Benji is unlikely to play and I suspect Grant will come onto the bench (I would prefer JJF but clearly Ivan doesn't). As for MCK he presents more options as a possible centre if we have an injury - especially considering Benji's readiness is questionable. Taylor also may not play as many minutes. Ivan has done what he can to cover all bases.

Is Aloiai injured? He would've been a valuable asset to our forward pack and I think that he will be sorely missed in round 1.

I would prefer Eisenhuth playing at lock because that would provide a lot more metres up the middle - especially when our starting back-row isn't going to make too many metres. This would mean that Taylor is moved to starting hooker with Godinet dropping back onto the bench.

Then without Eisenhuth in the prop rotation, we need to include an extra prop on the bench; either Felise or Grant, doesn't bother me which one. Then we can start with Lawrence and Rochow in the back row with MCK coming off the bench.

So I would've prefered:

8\. Packer
9\. Taylor
10\. Twal/Matulino
11\. Lawrence
12\. Rochow
13\. Eisenhuth

14\. Godinet
15\. Felise/Grant
16\. Matulino/Twal
17\. MCK

A lot of people were predicting a back 5 of Thompson, Nofoluma, Marsters, Kev, MWZ but Ivan ended up going for Lolohea to replace Nofoaluma (via Thompson).

I have complete faith and trust in Ivan. Regardless of who is in our team, I wish them all the best and hope we can get the season off to a winning start against the Chooks.

Let see now ….. so far ......

Problems with LoLo, MWZ, both centres, both Sedona rowers, all of the bench players..... not to mention our half’s can’t manage the game and are to slow .... no wait same for all of the backline.

Best we just don’t turn up on Saturday, switch the TV off and hide under the bed.

Rooster team not that amazing. They have thinned out a bit with their new marquee buys.

Very noticeable they have plenty of weak links

Yeah? Where? Perhaps their 19 onwards are weak but I see few weak links in that side outside of Mitch Cornish.

Based on preseason JJF has to be in the team . I feel for David N he deserves to be there on last years great form .
Anyways talk is now over, its time to rumble.

Rorters will have too much class in the backs and the bench for us, but I just want them to have a red hot go and hopefully thats enough to be competitive.

Aloiai :frowning: … Ive heard its a few weeks for him out. It's a really average second row. Not much punch off the bench. Could be a long one night

Our best possible backrow is average let's face it. Surprised Grant didn't get a gig, I thought he was strong in the trials, Packer looked ordinary to me.

Think he got help from Tim Sheens selecting this mob…
Lotsa captains calls....theyre all there despite some being proven non performers at this level.
Dont have that many options, but Cronk is gonna look cheap at his 7 figure price tag kicking towards our wings
Makes me wonder why we bought some guys, and given JJFs non selection why we bother with trials..?
Sure hope Im wrong,but...
