Cini might get his second chance. He better make the most of it.

Would be interesting how he goes, if he got a chance?

Cini not in 21. Doubt get exemption with mbye there. Calling this out as rubbish

You'd think this is Leilua's last chance to earn an unlikely NRL contract next year. With AJ injured and Talau having to play on the wing because we have no wingers, he's guaranteed a spot until we get a winger.

I would imagine that boat has already sailed,in the time he has been here he has done zero to warrant the club take up his option for next year. The same probably applies to Roberts but since he arrived late he may have a few more weeks grace but he also has been terrible so far

Our centres are terrible and their may lie the really major problem for Wests Tigers.

Manly didn’t score trys through our Centers. They scored trys trough our middle forwards. The Centers are the least of our problems.

It’s too simplistic to say our centres missed tackles and our forwards were bad in d.
You watched the game again Mike, did you notice any patterns emerge from both sides.
I did.

Our forwards including the distribution off Simpkin don’t set a run to a weakness in the opposition. But not only that it’s hard to explain but manly was kinda dictating where they wanted us to run with how they set their defensive structure.

Alternatively I noticed Jake Simpkin and MBye in almost double the tackles that Lachlan Crocker were in. Manly continually seeked both out and ran there.

This seems to be a really bad pattern. Of all sides I watch play our Front Rowers leave our smaller forwards exposed one on one a lot.

On the tries Manly scored.
A couple of their try’s were attributed by Chee Kam, Musgrove and Brooks misses.
At the stage of those tries a Lucy was stuck at Marker.
It seemed as though Manly would try and lure Lucy in the play before so that there was a bigger weakness in our defensive line.

One play Tom was tackled on tackle 3 or 4 on the right. And the commentators were waxing lyrical about this play because Tom was involved in the final pass on the far left. But what was so poor about our defence in that next play, two players involved in the tackle ran back to the short side to sure up that end. No one on the short, slid across to the open to plug up the numbers.

The same thing happened in the Foran try where Doueihi had been caught up and in the line and the players either side were hanging back. Laurie for one our fullback was plugging the short. He had no chance of getting across to be the last line of defence. But what was more concerning is once again when Foran went through for that try, that side was overlapped by about 3 players.

this is where someone needs to led the forwards around the park. Simpkin is new to 1st grade, hopefully he learnt something there.

They might actually grant this exemption as don’t have any backs in the 18-21. Yes Mbye could play fullback but who plays his role on the bench? Chee Kam and Liddle aren’t similar replacements for Mbye on the bench

We need Blore, Amone and Mikaele.

Guys that like to hurt.

There is our bench right there.

I would add Musgrove for aggression but geez he disappointed me with his defence last weekend.

Good point, a chance. Hopefully Laurie is fine though.

Ofahengaue confident on-field fortunes will turn around

A win - no matter how ugly - is all the Wests Tigers need to take the heat off coach Michael Maguire and the club, according to forward Joe Ofahengaue.

Singing the team song is not something Ofahengaue has been used to in recent times, with the Tongan representative winning just one of his past 24 matches at Brisbane and now the Tigers.

Having been part of the Broncos' disastrous 2020 campaign, Ofahengaue knows things will only get worse off-field if Maguire's men don't respond during the next month.

The joint venture have endured their toughest start to a season in club history but Ofahengaue believes a win against the Dragons on Sunday would immediately take pressure off the side.

As is so often the case it's the coach in the firing line, with reports on Sunday night following their heavy loss to the Sea Eagles that Maguire was under pressure to keep his job.

CEO Justin Pascoe addressed the playing squad earlier this week, denying the coach's days were numbered, and Ofahengaue has mounted a passionate defence of the man who brought him to Leichhardt.

"He signed me to come here and was a big reason why I moved down," Ofahengaue told NRL.com.

"You've got to stick up for your coach. Every other player here has his back. It's not all on him - in the end there are 17 jerseys that go out there each week and they've got to do their job.

"We wouldn't be having these conversations or being asked questions by the media or have stories written about us if we were winning.

"One win changes it all. If we don't get those wins it's only going to get worse, but there are no hard feelings with any of the boys.

"There's no point coming in and kicking stones."

After pushing the high-flying Rabbitohs to the limit in round six, the Tigers were embarassed by Manly just a week later, and Ofahenguae puts the rollercoaster ride down to the fact the Tigers are still searching for their identity.

"We're not dealing with adversity well on the field," he said.

"We had Manly on the ropes for the first 25 minutes [last week] and then Tom Trbojevic makes a break, they scored an easy try and it broke our spirits.

"We've got to deal with those moments better. It's on all of us. We need to think about what we can do better as a team."

Despite a tough start to his time in Sydney, Ofahengaue is enjoying the move south after six seasons at Red Hill.

He'll get a chance to start at lock on Sunday in a position he wants to make his own.

"I honestly think I'm playing some consistent footy, better than what I was tossing up last year," he said.

"One win will make it feel better but I've got to be grateful for the position I'm in."

Meanwhile, the club received a boost on Wednesday with 19-year-old hooker Jake Simpkin signing a two-year extension to remain at Concord until at least the end of the 2024 season.

Simpkin has been a shining light over the past fortnight of defeats after making his NRL debut against South Sydney.

"Jake's worked incredibly hard since he's come to Wests Tigers and has shown a great attitude and commitment to all that’s been asked of him," Maguire said.

"He's still got his entire career ahead of him and we're looking forward to watching him develop further as a player in Wests Tigers colours for many years to come."

Pretty accurate assessment and hope the players turn up this week.. Dragons have a good team so will be very hard and they will be pumped coming off 2 loses as well.

NRL can give us a dispensation if they deem we don’t have a capable fullback in the 21....so he might still

But it’s us so probably not

Iam going to change my tipping this week to the Tigers, surely after this weeks attention they will put in big time, Am I insane to trust my team again ?

Dragons are not that good I think we can win this week

Most of us thought that Manly weren't that good either, but I can understand what you are saying.

Dragons don't have a Turbo to change the game in a moment; they will try and grind us out.

I said it at the time, take turbo out of that manly team and it’s literally an even ball game. Everything good they did came from him and we had no answer

He is a freak

Best player in the game when he's fit, more impact than Tedesco.

I said this at work about three weeks ago and got laughed at. Tom T is probably the best fullback in the game, injury permitting.

Yep. Agreed.

Plus he has leadership qualities. Tedesco for me comes across as immature for some reason.

Plus a guy I hate loves him. Never helps....
