Wests Tigers U20s team recorded their biggest win of the season in thumping competition leaders Melbourne Storm 60-20 at Leichhardt Oval today.

Full-back James Tedesco equalled an U20s club record in scoring 4 tries set by former full-back Jake Mullaney against Cronulla in 2009.

The huge win over the Storm was laid by the impressive work by the forwards led by props Matt Groat and Neil Begovich while second-rower Ben Murdoch-Masila had his best game of the season since returning from a shoulder injury.

Wests Tigers opened the scoring in the second minute through barnstorming second-rower Ben Murdoch Masila. Half-back Jacob Miller converted the try for a 6-0 lead.

Melbourne hit back two minutes later when the ball was spread left for replacement centre Eddie Faameusilli dived over in the corner. The try was not converted to leave Wests Tigers with a 6-4 lead.

Exciting young Wests Tigers full-back James Tedesco finished off a fine team play when he raced 40 metres to score under the posts. Miller converted the try to give Wests Tigers a 12-4 lead after 32 minutes.

Wests Tigers centre Limoni Kamuta then stepped his way past two defenders in a 20 metre run to score in the left corner. Miller failed to convert the try for a 22-4 lead in the 38th minute.

Tedesco scored his second try a minute later when flash young Fijian winger Marika Koroibete raced down the left flank before offloading an inside pass despite the attention of a defender to send the full-back over. Miller converted the try for an 18-4 lead after 34 minutes.

The tryscoring frenzy continued a minute later when Miller put a chip kick over the defence for Kamuta to catch just over the halfway line. The centre had support on both sides but threw a dummy to race away to score near the posts. The try was then awarded as a penalty try after a late infringement from Storm player. Miller converted the try and the penalty to give Wests Tigers a commanding 30-4 lead at half-time.

2nd Half
Tedesco grabbed his third try in the 44th minute when he ran off a good pass by five-eighth Curtis Sironen. Miller converted the try for a 36-4 lead.
It didn’t end there for Tedesco. The quality full-back used his brute strength from 10 metres out to step past a few defenders to score near the posts. Miller converted the try for a 42-4 lead after 50 minutes.

Sironen then offloaded a good ball to put Mosese Fotuaika on a 30 metre run to the tryline. Miller converted the try for a 48-4 lead after 54 minutes.

Wests Tigers reached the half century mark when Murdoch-Masila offloaded to send centre Matt Evans on a 40 metre run to score under the posts. Miller converted the try for a 54-4 lead after 56 minutes.

The Storm got back on the board when Damien Sironen crossed out wide. Sean Loxley converted the try for a 54-10 scoreline.

Curtis Sironen then crossed for his first try when he planted the ball down out wide in ther 68th minute. Miller converted the try for a 60-10 scoreline.

Loxley then ran in two late tries to reduce the margin to 60-20.

The win moves Wests Tigers to 18 points. The team left the field to a massive standing ovation.

It was a great effort but considering the Storms half and pivot were both out they didn't ask alot of questions of ther Tigers in defence.

Begovich smeared one of them though and that was great to watch

Was sensational watching the game at Leichhardt. 80 points scored in a game…wow!
Don't care who didn't play for the Storm...congratulations boys you were awesome.
