Wests Tigers Trial Squad v Dragons

Can anyone tell me why liddle has not been picked?
He hasn't been injured all pre season and yet he hasn't been given a run.
His played 1 more first grade game then the backups and alot less than the rest of the side picked.

Either his not considered ready at all,
Or
He is considered an absolutely certainty and will definetly be in the 17 come the start of the year.
Is it that maybe marshall king could get a chance to impress or McWillrik needs more fitness.
I'm just surprised his not playing.

Big step and opportunity for young Connelly. Anyone got any knowledge of him?

Former NZ Rugby Player recruited to Keebra Park. He can play fullback and five eighth but at 190cm and 94kgs he has the size to handle centre/wing. He is a goal kicker and has pace.

I assume that he will be playing next week against the cows.

I'd say he's a certainty for the 17\. They might want to get a better idea of who should be first choice backup if Liddle or Ballin get injured, which isn't a terrible idea given Ballin's recent injury history.

Wouldn't be harmful to give him a game off the. Bench this weekend atleast, not like he's an experienced NRL player

Liddle not being there might be that Taylor wants to use this run to try a couple of alternatives, as next trial should be the run on side. I think JLJ mentioned in pre season he might train there.

And if a lot of these combinations don't work or struggle what next

Your top side should play at least two games together , even if it means creating a separate trial for the younger players and fringe players

New hookers , new centre , different back row combination more than likely

I'm just scratching my head in bewilderment at the moment

Apparently there's gonna be a stream of the Cowboys game.
Can someone confirm this?

The following Friday night we have our final hit out at Campbelltown Sports Stadium against the Cowboys. This will provide the chance to see how we measure up against one of the leading sides in the NRL and welcome some of the superstars of the game to Campbelltown. As always this game is free for our Members and I encourage you to get out and enjoy a night at the football. For those of you who aren’t able to make it I pleased to announce that once again we’ll be live streaming the game through our website. This marks the third straight year that we’ve done so and the response each time has been great from our Members and fans. Triple M commentator Anthony Maroon will be joining us once again for what will surely be a light-hearted call of the game.

I preferred Skando and Fulton as commentators

They were great and their stats were even better

Can't believe Fox haven't grabbed them instead of Bwaith

Surely we can touch this side up??

Yes true. There some bad commentary creeping on fox which is a cause of concern. Gasnia, anasta, kimmorely and now the most annoying head of All heads, ennis yes Michael ennis. Too many cooks in the kitchen some redundancy their would help.

Not a bad squad named, some promising youngsters in there with a decent spread of State Cup and FG experience. Taylor definitely trying to get some match fitness into Brooks and Aloiai given they had a disrupted pre-season. Front row combination of Grant/Grant/Seumanufagai and Eisenhuth from the look of it.

So how many runs will our top 17 have together before Round 1 ??

I think JT will run a full team with some maybes against the cowboys.

Yeah that'll be heaps , all we need , like we are 9 time undefeated NRL champions aren't we ??

Hehe happy i would settle for 1 time.Like you i am bewildered by the fact that our coaching staff cant be bothered playing our top team,it goes against everything i was coached as a player and since then, injuries are a poor excuse you can get those at anytime.

Your probably right Ink , but for the teams that came 9th -16th it is stupidity

I understand no Moses , but the rest of the side should be full strength

People said we did the same thing last season , yeah remind me , how did that work ??

As we saw last season we can't risk losing one game , you work on stuff during trials , not from Rd 1 onwards

I said he did the same thing last year but I didn't say it worked or it was wrong or right. That's just what JT appears to do and other coaches as well. Hey according to Sterlo we don't need trials anymore anyway?

TCL I wasn't having a shot , but I believe we are behind the 8 ball to begin with and to go into probably our most important season since 2012 not 100% right is plain stupidity

Aren't there a few blokes with niggles? Surely that has something to do with it. And a bloke like Woods, he doesn't need to be there to form combinations, he does what he does and does it well. Perhaps him rejoining the regular training late post-4-nations has something to do with it, trying to reduce his match time across this offseason.

Or to put it another way, players already complain about the toll taken from 26 rounds / 24 matches every season. You add 2-3 trials, finals series, Origin matches (often replacing a regular round, if no bye, but of higher intensity) and national duties for the top players, it's pushing into 30 matches. I'd hate to fall 1-2 matches short of durability for our top players because they had big hit-outs at the trials.

And then if you just run them on for 40 mins in the trial and sub them off, the argument becomes what is the point? I mean JT probably already knows his Top 17, has a few questions about combinations and backups, but there's no query on Tedesco or Woods or Moses and they've been playing/training together for a few years now.
