That’s right mate, who knows what went down behind the scenes....But that’s the whole point; we shouldn’t know about it...You don’t hear stupid stories about other clubs and who they’ve earmarked as potential sponsors. They don’t parade it publicly beforehand. You hear about it once it’s signed, sealed and delivered.

These little stories of things that could be handled in the background add up over time and may contribute to decisions of key business people being attracted to the club.

The media obviously got wind of it because of big mouth Elias, but Pascoe should’ve just blanketed it. Pascoe’s quoted words in this instance have made us look very amateur from a business-sense, especially from a CEO.

That is quite literally the point I was trying to make!

I have no idea why you’re persisting with trying to tell me I’m overreacting about my thoughts on what happened. Your persistence is the real overreaction here! If you don’t agree with it, that’s all good, move on.

To be fair this time of year reporting becomes mostly nothing more than speculative because there is not much going on. A story like this during the season would not be published. It's well known that our club generates more interest than most which encourages reporters to write about us especially when there is no footy to report on.

You hear stupid stories about other clubs all the time. Seriously, for 12 months actually absorb all the stories about all the other clubs and see how Tigers fare in comparison.

Some misguided ideas I hear on here that only Tigers make mistakes, or only Tigers lose elite players, or only Tigers can't bring in quality players, or only Tigers have issues with home grounds or only Tigers get screwed by the NRL or only Tigers have an NRL-backed vendetta against us to force relocation, or only Tigers have lesser facilities, or only Tigers are a basketcase etc. etc.

But pay attention to the news about other clubs, read other clubs forums - they are all saying the same stuff.

I don't know how you can say we looked amateur from a business sense, when it was revealed this week that Tigers are only the 2nd Sydney team to post a profit in 2019, second year running we made profit, with zero of that coming from Leagues club donation. That's good admin pure and simple. Imagine if we were actually making finals and winning games, how that would affect our bottom line?

Wests Tigers have a healthy sponsorship pipeline (businesses like Brydens), we haven't lacked for a front / back / sleeve / shorts / match day sponsor for ages, membership numbers are up YOY, crowds are decent etc. That's the measure of professional business, not some Joe Blow with money that we tried to court, that you read about in the paper.

But look, doom and gloom if you want, give this excessive credit if you want, I can't stop you.

Re your "you don't put cats in bags, you put them in crab pots as live bait" @happy_tiger...I can't decide whether I should give you a like for this one or not.

@jirskyr

You’re pulling apart bits and pieces of what I’m saying which totally takes away the context in which I’m giving it.

I’m talking about this instance, this instance only - the very subject this whole thread is about and how Pascoe’s comments have come across as pretty amateur in my eyes. It’s actually getting hard to reply without just repeating myself.

Im not looking at 12 months worth of news stories, comparing current sponsors or profit margins over 2 years, Ben Barba etc, etc. You’re bringing up things that are completely unrelated to what this thread is actually about to try and challenge or change what I think on Pascoe’s comments.

No doubt there are some rubbish articles about all clubs on different subjects but I don’t see other CEO’s quoted like this about “potential” partnerships until they’ve locked the deal down and i find it pretty embarrassing. That’s me. If he gave a blanket answer, I wouldn’t have blinked about it but when your CEO publicly makes comments which can be viewed as amateur, people notice that stuff.

My opinion is he shouldn’t be talking it up until it’s in the bag and that’s all there is to it, it’s really quite simple.

You may not view it how I do and that’s well and good as I’ve said a few times.

You never count your money while sitting at the table there'll be plenty of time for counting when the dealins done

Now get that outta your head..lol

Fair enough. When you said "you don't hear stupid stories about other clubs", that's the part I picked up on.

You also said it made us look amateur, and I was pointing out the very many other ways we don't look amateur, if you are only going to focus on one thing.

Whether or not there are stupid stories about other clubs sponsorship, I couldn't even be bothered doing a search. As I said, it's a non-story for me, I get you are annoyed by it, I reckon you are wasting your time thinking about the "way it looks", but yes, you are entitled to do that, by all means.

Do it. Doitdoitdoitdoitdoitdoitdoitdoit!
I am down like a clown Charlie Brown. Something has to change and the status quo has not yielded results. Let's get Trump, who is a convicted Rapist and Felon in on this as well.
