I don't think anyone on here is against having Neville Crichton as a club sponsor.
It's all about Benny's sticky fingers anywhere near the club.

@jirskyr Meanwhile, the Press are worried about being raided by the AFP for running dodgy political stories. But it's OK for Dean Ritchie to produce this crap!
Redact me gently folks!

The press were not raided for running "dodgy political stories" but for finding and exposing the truth which our federal government didnt like.I am one of the first to criticise the trashy murdoch empire and its agendas but freedom of the press is one of the most important aspects of our society and one we should strive to keep at all costs even when we dont agree with what they write.

This is just flat out embarrassing. I’m used to Ben Elias having a rant in the media and trying to remain relevant. But for gods sake when your CEO comes out and talks it up before there’s any solidarity to the partnership, that’s just absolute amateur hour.

I’m actually shocked you’d discuss it with the media before you were in advanced talks at the very least. Seal the deal first. Their response to original story just makes it even more embarrassing; like we were never a hope of partnering and just talking it up.

I agree. The BE connection taints the whole initiative. It makes one very wary. If it wasn’t for the BE connection I would be much more comfortable with it. But like @happy_tiger said.. Tell ‘em they are dreaming

That pretty much sums it up.
How hard can it be?

Dean Ritchie: Justin, Benny Elias said blah,blah,blah,blah. Can you confirm this?

Justin Pascoe: No. What i can confirm is Wests Tigers like all successful business entities are always looking at different ways to strengthen our financial position and ties within the community........"have a nice day Bulldog" *clunk*

I frankly don't see why anyone cares. Embarrassing to whom? The other clubs don't care, other fans don't care.

Embarrassing is signing Ben Barba then having to fire him before a game is played. Embarrassing is giving the NRL your computers that are also storing a record of your salary cap cheating. Embarrassing is telling JWH he was Clive Churchill before everyone has voted.

Talking about some maybe business person once in the papers, for 2 days, is nothing and you are over-reacting.

Who'd ever go public with something like this without it being a done deal?

A bloke who loves his name in the media.

Just great to see we are searching out big time supporters and revenue for the club, keep up the inside work Pascoe

@jirskyr

I don’t think I’m overreacting at all or that any of my comments insinuated that this was the worst thing in the world.

I just think it’s reeks of amateurism to openly comment to the public about how you’re trying to set up a partnership then 2 days later they publicly reply with a “no thanks” type of response. That’s embarrassing. To be honest, in my eyes it makes Pascoe look like a complete fool.

Get the deal done and parade the story as much as you like, but these are the types of things that should be kept in house until there’s official agreements in place.

I think you are thinking and worrying too hard about this, but you are allowed to.

@jirskyr

I’ve just echoed what most have said on here, so not too sure why you think I’m specifically the one overthinking or worrying about it. Rest assured mate, I’m ok and doing well!

You may not be bothered when your club does silly things like this and accept a mediocre standard of running a professional organisation, that’s your call. But as an outsider looking in like many on here I find it pretty stupid to dribble on before you lock someone in publicly because you generally wind up looking like a nuffie.

Who knows, this guy could’ve been pretty keen but bailed on this thing because the media chased the story and he’s gone well if these idiots want to publicly discuss matters that we’ve been holding in private then I’m pulling the pin now because it shows amateurism.

You can basically stop there.

For all you know the guy could have been bailing anyway and Tigers thought a bit of press might be their last possible option to help land the deal. Or maybe they were interviewed 3 months ago and Bulldog Ritchie heard that the deal wasn't gonna happen, so got his story in 1 day early so he had something to run that day.

That's my point, why concern yourself with how something this small looks from the outside.

And if you are that flippant, that you'd "pull the pin" because of some media crap, then you are better off abandoning sport now, because media coverage of sport is simply rife with these nonsense nothing stories. Fans who buy into such stories and think they are certainly accurate are kidding themselves.
