This isn't a secret. The people managing the club have been generally terrible. The irony is, the most qualified person we had involved in running our club, discounting Shane Richardson was Justin Pascoe. He knew how sporting organisations operated, he knew how to communicate with a board, and to his credit he knew how to bring money in (let's not argue about what money that was).
Previous CEOs had tried to bring in big name sponsors who didn't pay their way (*cough**Meriton**cough*) and didn't handshake deals which weren't properly documented. CEOs such as Stephen Humphreys were ineffective, but again he was at the club right at the the beginning of the dramas at Balmain Leagues Club, them closing Rozelle, and moving to the smaller locations, and trying to stay relevant (and we all know what happened there). Grant Meyer was simply the worst choice we could have had as CEO (he appointed Jason Taylor as coach).
We've seen exceptional board members come and go like Dave Trodden and John Chalk. And by the end of her tenure Marina Go eventually showed us how she could stand up to the "boys club". I'd like to see her back involved in the club in some way.
But for may years, the silly 2 year rolling chair from one side then the other.... It mostly just changed the strategic direction of the club as Balmain wanted to things their way, Wests wanted to do things their way.... Both were in contradiction and opposing views on strategy, so the club lurched from one direction to another.
We just need to wait now and see the end result of the new board members who are being recruited. When we see who they are and their capabilities, then we can make better more informed comments
