Wests Tigers Head Coach Michael Maguire has named a strong squad for Saturday's NRL trial match against the Penrith Panthers, with kickoff at 7:00pm AEDT from Panthers Stadium.

New recruits Adam Doueihi, Billy Walters, Zane Musgrove and Luciano Leilua will all feature in their first proper fixture for the club while experienced first-graders Chris McQueen, Josh Reynolds, Elijah Taylor and Michael Chee Kam will also feature.

In total, 17 members of the extended NRL squad will feature on the night, while a number of the club's Canterbury Cup players will also take part.

Wests Tigers Jersey Flegg side will take on Penrith in a trial match as a curtain-raiser for the main event, with kickoff for that game at 5:00pm AEDT.

The NRL trial match will be live streamed on www.weststigers.com.au.

Neither Dillon or scolari are on development contracts. I just hope these younger guys get a ball work session in with the nrl players named, otherwise they are up against it. My understanding is they haven’t had a ball work session together yet, and officialdom like every other nrl club won’t want to pay these blokes any extra coin to train with nrl as pr Ella agreement, ( I think it’s 500 a session for memory if you train with nrl but don’t have an nrl contract), so hope we do the right thing and give all these younger boys the best chance to put their best foot forward.. Also anybody know if Dylan smith is injured? 3 years on a development contract and didn’t play in mines and not named for the weekend?


Maguire doesn’t rate Smith at all, i think he’ll find himself in Ron Massey cup this year. Kane Bradley hadn’t been named either. I thought he went alright but apparently Madge doesn’t rate him either.

Also an update Tommy Talau has been added to the side for the weekend

Surprising he doesn’t rate them considering they’re on development contracts and we have heaps of other guys that could’ve been on one instead.

They were on them before he got to the club

Ah you’re right. 2019 development squad was announced a few weeks before Madge joined. He seems to like Madden and Seyfarth which is good

Big wraps on Seyfarth, will be shocked if he doesn’t debut this year

Wish he played more in the nines, he had one run and almost scored! With the lack of depth in our forwards it wouldn’t surprise me at all if he debuted later in the year. Madge has shown he’ll play the young fellas.

I'll bet vital parts of my anatomy Seyfarth debuts this season.

Stupid security at the game, just refused me entry to the game. The ticket system crashed and they kept sending me to the end of new lines. People around me abusing and swearing at the staff, all I did was complain, no raising my voice or swearing and they refuse me entry while I stood there and pointed out the next 5 people that swore at the staff. Must be the Tigers jersey and the fact I'm 6 foot 110kg and heavily bearded

Couldn't believe when he accused me of swearing and there are Penrith supporters 3 mtrs away yelling swearing. I was annoyed but I didn't swear and I didn't raise my voice. Felt pretty embarrassing though!
