I rate the young fullback who come on in the second half made a couple of errors so what the whole side did found out after game he’s not on a development contract had no preseason with first grade so he hasn’t had the training they’ve had and was not aloud to train with the side makes it hard imo bright future

I rate him and he has very good speed. That said, he absolutely butchered a try when he created the opportunity and completely undid all the good work. Normally I would say this is unforgivable at this level and even at JF. You only had to look at Burton and Naden who knew when to pass and when to go on their own. That stuff can cost you a finals appearance, semi & GF. However, hopefully he can learn from that. We need to stick with these young players and they have a huge ability to make it with a bit more experience.

Actually spoke with this kid after the game, he was over the moon about getting a run and I brought up that exact thing about if he could have tipped it on we may have scored, he said he had beaten his man and was going to flick it but the ball slipped so he didn’t want to force it. He admitted to making a couple of poor errors and said he would be much better for the run, as he needed the hit out badly, so down to earth ,great kid hope he kicks on.

Don’t know what it looked like at home but the number 4 carried the ball very very strong, he impressed me a bit , I know he’s originally a dragons junior, and we got him from Penrith, but he definitely had impact when carrying the ball. Anyway it was good to see some kids like Cini and Hoffman, Dillon , Kei good work way lambkin, snoopy and Madge exposing these kids early to the better grade so they know what to expect and the improvement they need to make to be consistent at this level.

That was Matheson Johns and he definitely looked a handful with his running game.

Logen Dillon was ordinary, he has no idea on how to play fullback and should go back to the wing where he goes better, he's got some speed but can't pass. Maybe he's just not ready to play opens this year.
Cini shows promise but if the fullback doesn't play as a link he won't see the ball, which happened
Talau needs to work on his defensive reads
Scholari has pace and is very strong probably burnt a bit of energy playing at this level which affected his speed
Hoffman is a good signing and will get better for the experience
Madden's kicking was good but just lacked some attacking vision which will get better with experience and maybe a constant playing group around him in CC.
Johns will be great in cc this year and could be a dark horse for #30 if nobody of note gets signed
Most of those mentioned will go back to JF as better players for the experience.
I think the JF boys are going to have a good year along with CC.
Against the Warriors we'll get more of a form line for NRL and even then I'm not too worried as it's all about blowing out the cobwebs after a hard preseason
Good luck to all 🤞

Agree with just about all you say except for Scholari.

Whilst he was on for his 18 minutes, the Riff had the ball for 75% of the time. The two chances he got (would have been tries), he was not passed the ball. How he got his energy burnt I don't know, it certainly wasn't in attack. Had two nice passes as well from DH after he wasn't passed the ball. I think he did well - with very, very limited opportunities.

I disagree re logen Dillon and what a silly statement to say he isn’t ready for opens football, he isn’t even on a development contract , so obviously they are not going to play him in first grade this year, , hasn’t ever trained with first grade not once and he told me on Saturday night he just started training with cc after they came back from Xmas break, has way more upside than many others and seen him lay on a few tries with good passes last year in jersey Flegg game against bulldogs at Belmore as one example, if you watch football correctly you will know talau is a back rower, we have tried for some reason to turn him into a centre, he doesn’t have the speed or lateral movement to defend in centres, and was moved to five eighth at the age of 16 by his father who coached bulldogs sg ball, cini shows potential, but he has massive amounts of work to do in defence like most young backs, defence was poor all year in if last year but carries football very well, I’ve actually seen him play fullback on a few occasions he is horrible in that position, Hoffman looked solid but doesn’t look like he has any speed imo, like to see more.scolari I like but he has no skill he is fast and runs hard that’s it, got into clear many times in jersey flegg doesn’t what to do, but they are young and deserve a go

Exactly. Give them a taste so they know the standard required and the work to be done to get there.

With the young players, just when you believe they are not ready they develop quickly. If we are honest, Madden is next off the rank to play half after Benji and Brooks if Walters is playing 9. Next year, Madden right side half and Brooks left side.

Madden is the pick of the lot after Saturday night. Tommy will be good - seen him offload to his support many times last year and set them up nicely.

Nervous energy. It's a big moment for these young ones and I liked him last year ?

Got a lot to learn but I think the potential is there - it is just a matter of bringing it out and giving it time for the experience to show results.

He is only young, no rush - let him learn his craft - hopefully if it all comes together - we reap the rewards, if not - maybe the next one will.

Are you his dad because you seem to know a lot about that age group from the dogs and you talk him up 🙄. All good if you are

Going forward we need someone in the middle with a really quick ball the ball ( like Cam Murray ) maybe this could be Tommy Ts role.
We have strong powerful guys now but no one around the ruck to work the angles and get the opposition at 6s and 7s

"Fast and runs hard" seems to be something Tigers have lacked in recent years, so skill be damned I say.

He has skill...believe me...I've seen enough highlights to believe so

Hmmmm.... no skill. Seemed to score a lot of tries last year for not knowing what to do? https://youtu.be/NaeKPcukl2U .

Possibly too small for a winger but could end up in the forwards.

Perhaps we should just let the youth play and see what happens? We’ve all seen young talent come to nothing and those that don’t have as much come through. Young Johns could be the classic case in the right position - I don’t think he is a centre though. He has the fire in the belly which is half the battle.

Thought Mathison Johns and Zane Musgrove were the standouts myself.

Easy

Mr Dillon...
Not sure we watched the same game.

I payed close attention throughout this game.
I thought Dillon was 1 of the worst on the field along with Josh Reynolds.

He looked very small and really showed no promising signs.

He can play fleg or whatever but I do not really see him kicking on and being a professional first grader
