How good would it be to read a Willow match report and player ratings from tonights trial…..
He was there and saw all three games…Im sure he'll give a good rundown.
I only saw reserves and firsts...reserve grade started strong but looked to run out of steam a bit allowing Wenty back into it but held on well
Big T got bugger all ball, Nofo my motm, Brooks went OK, kicked well, defence needs some work but a big step up tonite, BMM started average but finished strong, some good runs,,,David harris and Tim Simona I thought had stronggames off the bench, Shaun Spence a dead ringer for Graham Wynn and Brooks looks like Kimmorley...both went good
First grade they all went very well....lookin at the program I dont think Bell played, Galloway was terrific, they all went very well....still the Benji Robbie show but Miller looked OK when they went off, started to run things, both wingers very strong, I agree Lawrence was quiet, Ayshford had one bad defensive lapse but played well otherwise, Moltzen fairly quiet but no errors, Anasta Pettybourne and Blair all good, Anasta will be good for us
I though Spence looked to be running a bit gingerly in reggies but he played a lot of minutes in that game, whole first half I think, some of the second and a spell in top grade...went OK for his first run with the big boys, Brooks was on the bench not sure if he got a crack we left with about 8 mins to go at 40-4
Buchannan was strong starting in the front row, lots of minutes it seemed
Not sure on the opposition Parra had possibly three tries called back for forward passes and a player in the bin for a bit (mullaney)...they had players on & off all the time not sure if they were really bad or we were really good....for a trial we didnt commit too many errors, the defense was relaxed...refs didnt police the 10 too harsh for the first serious hit out.....but at time I though the ruck and tackles seems to be a fair bit quicker than last year
Geez its tough when youre at the footy and find yourself seated next to Ray warren & Gus Gould....these two would not shut up and the running commentary I had to endure was cringeworthy at times but also highly amusing
Very good night, a win in all three grades....good way to start the year
