Wests Tigers vs Eels Trial 2 Live Game Thread

Parra look set for another banner yr. If they don't snatch Farah or another marquee player i can't see them making any kind of progress for a couple of yrs at least

Mick, cut out the Scott Woodward article re wooden spoon and stick it in the dressing room at each of our matches this year. These guys have to remember where they came from.

According to the WT Twitter feed:

Good news @Wests_Tigers fans, Shaun Spence only has a medial ligament strain. Different knee to previous injury. Hoping to play next week!

How good would it be to read a Willow match report and player ratings from tonights trial…..

He was there and saw all three games…Im sure he'll give a good rundown.

I only saw reserves and firsts...reserve grade started strong but looked to run out of steam a bit allowing Wenty back into it but held on well

Big T got bugger all ball, Nofo my motm, Brooks went OK, kicked well, defence needs some work but a big step up tonite, BMM started average but finished strong, some good runs,,,David harris and Tim Simona I thought had stronggames off the bench, Shaun Spence a dead ringer for Graham Wynn and Brooks looks like Kimmorley...both went good

First grade they all went very well....lookin at the program I dont think Bell played, Galloway was terrific, they all went very well....still the Benji Robbie show but Miller looked OK when they went off, started to run things, both wingers very strong, I agree Lawrence was quiet, Ayshford had one bad defensive lapse but played well otherwise, Moltzen fairly quiet but no errors, Anasta Pettybourne and Blair all good, Anasta will be good for us

I though Spence looked to be running a bit gingerly in reggies but he played a lot of minutes in that game, whole first half I think, some of the second and a spell in top grade...went OK for his first run with the big boys, Brooks was on the bench not sure if he got a crack we left with about 8 mins to go at 40-4

Buchannan was strong starting in the front row, lots of minutes it seemed

Not sure on the opposition Parra had possibly three tries called back for forward passes and a player in the bin for a bit (mullaney)...they had players on & off all the time not sure if they were really bad or we were really good....for a trial we didnt commit too many errors, the defense was relaxed...refs didnt police the 10 too harsh for the first serious hit out.....but at time I though the ruck and tackles seems to be a fair bit quicker than last year

Geez its tough when youre at the footy and find yourself seated next to Ray warren & Gus Gould....these two would not shut up and the running commentary I had to endure was cringeworthy at times but also highly amusing

Very good night, a win in all three grades....good way to start the year

Gould was there? Didn't the Panthers have a trial against the warriors tonight also? or was that last night?

No, just two old blokes who were gibbering away constantly and inanely much like Gus & Rabs

No probs WT4L….yes I think next week will be a different picture

Moltzen had a few drop balls, miller directed well, Galloway has picked up speed, was stunned to see him run so quickly
Pettybourne is a very good gain
Taqule nayavaravo is a massive unit and was placed on the wing
Anasta played a similar role to gareth but less enforcer, and koro was koro, amazing
Definitely pumped for the season if we are consistent, gelled very well

Fullback challenge at this stage after first trial who has gone one up ??

We only have one fullback Happy and he played really well…attacks the ball took some hits and always always is there backing up the middle. Even took a couple of scoots from dummy half.
Moltzen looked more comfortable when he went to half...except for the dropped ball.

Did they get half each Irvine??

And Teddy in your opinion got the foot up over Moltzen ??

I think Teddy got about 1/4, Moltz 3/4 game time….or maybe Moltz swithched to 5/8 when benji went off, hard to keep up

Not much between them ...Teddy reads attacking kicks better tho
Moltz got crunched by Tonga I think...was like he ran into a wall
