I apologise, just looked up the specs, they are a 2.4L petrol. They just feel like a 1L when I need to get up hills in them and the battery has gone flat...
Yeah, I understand each to their own, nut I'm really not a fan. Most of our other vehicles are hilux utes, we had a few Rangers but thankfully they've gotten rid of most of them now.
I work in a power station so they are trying to push us all to buy them with schemes and putting free chargers in our carparks. I regularly throw the caravan and dirtbikes on the ute and drive 4-5hrs away so it''ll be a fair while before an electric can handle that.

Cool mate. Horses for courses as they say. An outlander isn't a workhorse. Before I got busted up I had a Hilux big motor and it was pretty tough but not a dedicated 4x4 imo. The Outlander for me was pure comfort and headroom for us giraffes.
I'm interested if anyone has a mini, small VW or any other small hatch type for a second car for the little lady?

D max requires aftermarket tuning and suspension upgrades. Do this and it’s a little weapon.
The 4wd 24/7 boys have one and it gets most places that the Cruisers and Patrols go.

I bought it specifically for its reported towing capabilities. The boat and trailer are very heavy and I'm towing in steep hilly country. I haven't modified it in any way, and so far it hasn't missed a beat. Maybe I just got a good one

Be careful with reported towing capabilities of dual cabs.
You should identify the GVM of your vehicle.
I would say you are likely boarderline illegal, not having a crack, most cars towing something are.

Thanks for the info because yeah its terrible, had a V6 Ranger before and in comparison the D-Max is a GoGo mobile.

Does yours have the 7 speed dct gear box and if it does how clunky do you find it in 1st gear?

About 10 years I reckon. Once the infrastructure is in place it will be a no-brainer. Governments, (feds in our case) have to come to the party and remove disincentives such as the luxury tax (which is there to protect a non-existent industry - a total failure and is now just revenue raising). Battery technology will incrementally improve, especially in the area of capacity.

I brought my car in 2016 and always knew it would by my last ICE. I'll run it into the ground and then go EV.

What about the problem of a mountain of dead EV batteries?
Are we creating a big problem by trying to solve the pollution problem?

I've got a KTM 890R. Such a good bike!!! Handles like a sportsbike on the road and seems to defy the laws of physics off road, I've taken it places most people wouldn't take a dirt bike. Also have a 450EXC. I'm doing a week long tour of Tassie in a fortnight with my dad on his DR650.

Good on Yuh PW. It's great that some people have a close enough relationship with their dad to travel with them for a week or so 😀.
