What Car do you Drive..?

I had the use of a hybrid Camry hire car while my car was being repaired. Can't believe how economical they are to run. I have a 50km round trip to/from work, which I made a number of times, plus a small amount of local suburb runaround and it used less than a quarter of a tank. I imagine they're expensive and that it would take a few years to "get your money back", but if you're forking out for a new car and it has a hybrid version, definitely worth considering.

My friend did the same...

Just got an email from Toyota - apparently massive upgrades in tech so a 2k price increase.

Can't guarantee it'll be ready for April but said Toyota has stopped taking orders until they've caught up on production.

See what happens there 😵
I bet ya sick of looking at the pics in the catalog or on line?
Have you got any accessory upgrades in mind once you have it in the driveway?

I just forget about it, until it comes up in conversation.

No upgrades.
The XSE is decked out with black rims and whatnot already.

We're getting the paint protection and that's about it.

Trying to get the landscaping all styled up so it looks nice parked in the driveway 😂

Very nice mate. Only got a glimpse of the BMW, was it a R100S?

Allan Keed, that's a blast from the past, he and his Brother Ron (from memory) painted a few bikes for me and my mates back in the 70's. From memory they were painting out of a house garage around Arncliffe way and from memory the street was cut in half and the 2 halves didn't join up, so got lost the first time I went there.
Cheers for that.
Close 🙂 86 R80 with a 1,000cc kit in it - it's mine too. Exactly right re the street and Allan Keed. He sprayed the 55, my 48 Matchless (check the other video out of it) and my r100/7, which was stolen.

I bought one 5 years ago for uber driving best car I've ever owned

Seems to be common
Aye @innsaneink

Some one told me some parts are made in Ukraine and hard to get due to the ongoing situation over there.

Covid has had its effect too.
Massive delay on all Hybrids and they haven't been able to keep up with the orders.
My patience is wearing thin with them

Still massive delays on all vehicle production and transport since COVID first hit - nothing to do with heightened technology just production line delays at all levels for even the base materials!

People tend to underestimate how many good people working honest manufacturing jobs globally have prematurely deceased from COVID - leaving huge skilled human resource gaps to be filled by kids who think TikTok is a viable profession!

We have a couple of these at work as well as about 5 of the Mitsu Outlander PHEV's. The camry is def better but I wouldn't buy one yet. My wife's Holden Trax gets about the same economy but goes much better. The Outlanders are deadset hopeless! Driving around site (it's a big site with 20min plus drives to some areas) its not uncommon to have flat batteries within half an hour and then you are stuck trying to push a large car around with a poxxy 1L engine... Really not a fan. It'll be a long time before i even consider a hybrid and probably decades before id look at an electric even with my employer offering all sorts of schemes to get us into them!

Personally the opposite. I brought a Lexus RX Hybrid and it is a total joy.
Best car I have driven, easy to park, gorgeous to drive.

Total hybrid convert. It gives you power at the lights on take off. 2008 model, no issues with Hybrid.

I’ve got 1x RAV Hybrid and second one order.
Good mid sized car. Plenty of power with the one petrol motor and 2x electric motors (one for the 2 front wheels and one for the back wheels)in AWD models.
Drives very well. Economical around the city. Not so much when you drive at higher speeds and use more of the petrol motor.

You got an Outlander 1lt engine? What sort of work? Mine is an allwheel drive 2.5l and the best car I've owned, heaps of power and drives soft like a car, then again i only drive it to the shops and to the beach sometimes. It's not a work vehicle by any stretch of the imagination.

I have owned 2 Lexus hybrids, current one is 2019 IS 300h F Sport model and is very economical and a smooth ride. Whenever I need extra power I simply switch to Sports Plus mode. Cant see myself driving anything but a Lexus over the coming years.

I apologise, just looked up the specs, they are a 2.4L petrol. They just feel like a 1L when I need to get up hills in them and the battery has gone flat...
Yeah, I understand each to their own, nut I'm really not a fan. Most of our other vehicles are hilux utes, we had a few Rangers but thankfully they've gotten rid of most of them now.
I work in a power station so they are trying to push us all to buy them with schemes and putting free chargers in our carparks. I regularly throw the caravan and dirtbikes on the ute and drive 4-5hrs away so it''ll be a fair while before an electric can handle that.

Still Driving my manual 2001 AU2 XR8 after 20 years.

Love it, reliable and easy to work on.

Also have a 2019 Suzuki vstrom 650 motorbike.

Will upgrade the bike in probably a year, pretty excited about KTM releasing a RC 990.
I've got a KTM 890R. Such a good bike!!! Handles like a sportsbike on the road and seems to defy the laws of physics off road, I've taken it places most people wouldn't take a dirt bike. Also have a 450EXC. I'm doing a week long tour of Tassie in a fortnight with my dad on his DR650.
