What Car do you Drive..?

What about the problem of a mountain of dead EV batteries?
Are we creating a big problem by trying to solve the pollution problem?
You are reporting a problem that doesn’t exist. The car will have died long before the batteries do. EVs last approximately 1.5 times that of a ICE. Once the EV is done the batteries still have pretty good capacity and so can be used for grid storage or other purposes and they can also be recycled to recover materials needed.

I'm not disagreeing with your post, but I just viewed a very interesting article from John Cadogan the Auto Expert who put up a very good argument against EV's.

Currently getting around in the work provided car= Skoda Octavia.

Surprisingly not awful. Essentially a VW Passat.

Sorry mike, I don't know how to do that.
Just look up John Cadogan Auto Expert on Utube and you should be able to find it 👍 .
He posts several and often leads with “I am not anti-EV” which basically means he is.

If you are concerned about charging infrastructure, don’t be. I mean we are not where we should be but it has been inshrined in law. Ampol is taking the lead on highway infrastructure Nationally and in NSW all new buildings must have capacity to install EV chargers as of the beginning of September, don’t know about other States.

Best made plans and all, I intended on buying a Mazda RX2 Coupe. My own RX7 1980 is in the workshop for engine rebuild, gearbox etc. I dropped down to the workshop and the workshop owner pushes out a Mazda dealer delivered RX7 1984 convertible, which is No 6 of 6 built. This is a very rare care with the 12A turbo rotary engine and has been owned by the current owner since 1990. The owner is now in his 90s! The workshop owner has serviced the car since 1990 and it is a good car which is especially important when buying a vintage Mazda rotary. The current owner gave me a significant discount because he knows the car will not be modified. I'll post photos when I own it. We are on our way through to Koroit so this is very unexpected!

This is a US convertible which has had a hard life but is typical of the condition in which you would find an RX7 of this vintage. This car does not have the 12A turbo rotary engine.

These are photos of my 1985 Mazda RX7 convertible at the link below. The car, which we call "breezy", is the last of 6 built before Mazda Japan put an end to production. There is a plaque in the engine bay confirming it is no 6 and that it is compliant with ADRs. Two of the cars went to Singapore so it is a car rarely seen. It has created a lot of interest in the local car clubs. Jimmy did a superb job on the detailing which can be seen in the photos.

It is registered in NSW and the car has been serviced by one rotary workshop since 1990 although in the last 10 years was locked in a garage. This is important when buying an old rotary Mazda.

Back in the day I needed a car and went to the Car Auctions on Parramatta Rd West of Leichhardt. After standing there despondent for a couple of hours a purple coupe appeared on the stage and bidding started very cheaply. I ended up purchasing a Mazda RX4 with the 13B rotary engine for 900 dollars. It was a little rough on the outside but like new on the inside with plastic still on the rear trim bits. It had a miss, so I drove it home bought a new set of plugs, gave it a service and she purred like a thirsty kitten. Next day I took it out to visit friends in the west and decided to see how it performed on the highway. The Speedo had a top speed of 200, and I started accelerating down the motorway with one eye out for the dreaded men in blue. I started going past Holden's and Ford's like they were standing still, looked down at the Speedo and it was bouncing off the 200 stop. What a car it was.

Thanks for your input. The RX4 is a beautiful car and it is like sitting in a cockpit of a plane in the RX4 Coupe. There worth a fortune now. I know a Canberra RX4 Coupe ex race car, no rust was selling for offers over $50,000.

2005 Mitsubishi Magna and a 2009 Ford Falcon XR6.

Now we are moving to a rural area needed a car more suited to some of the conditions so just purchased a 2022 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport Exceed.

Loving the difference in rural insurance costs compared to the city, the Pajero in country Victoria is the same cost as the 19 year old Magna was in Sydney.

I am still tracking information on my convertible RX7. I can confirm it was sold by City Mazda, Adelaide. Advice on a US RX7 forum indicates there were 6 production cars and 1 prototype. Best advice is that two examples are in Australia, one in NZ, two in Japan and two were destroyed. The poster confirms he received advice that one of the two examples in Australia was written-off or destroyed in a shipping accident, potentially leaving car 6 the sole remaining example in Australia.

2016 Levorg STI, after many years driving enhanced WRXs. Also rip around on a Yamaha MT09... Kids won in the end, with surfboards, bikes, skateboards, beach days the 4 door life had to go, plus the little creeps were ruining the interior. Im definitely a Subaru faithful, I lived in Japan and imported a Twin Turbo Legacy back in the day. Absolute weapon, heavily modified by Blitz/Yamago way before the Euro brands caught up ie 500HP and above off the factory floor.
Tried Jeeps for a few miserable years, NEVER again. Absolute lemons and a massive shame because the SRT 8 Cherokee is a magnificent looking car, but unfortunately made from wet toilet paper.
Currently looking at importing a 90s big block Silverado from the US, maybe a restoration project and would have a sleepy cruiser around town. Just gotta get that one past the bank manager haha....
