What's lack of depth got to do with a coaches ability to motivate his playing roster?

Ah heaps

They might be playing at their best already

Motivation only gets you so far ,talent ,size and speed along with motivation will beat motivation every time

Agree motivation will only get you so far, like you say if both teams turn up with the right attitude then the team with the better size, speed etc has an advantage. Though i wouldnt go as far as saying they will win every time or even most of the time. There are plenty of other factors that will determine the outcome.

I think its safe to say coaching tactics play a fairly big part. A top coach can hide his own teams weaknesses and expose his opponents with a well thought out gameplan. Also a top coach can motivate and keep his players switched on alot better than a poor coach. Do you think Terry Lamb had the respect of the playing staff when he laughed at Hoppas inserting his finger in places it didnt belong whilst doing video sessions? Would Paul Langmack command the same respect as Craig Bellamy down in Melbourne? the answers are obvious. Not all coaches are equal, same as players.

I still see no correlation in your post regarding squad depth and motivation. They are 2 seperate factors in a multitude of reasons that determine a teams amount of success or lack of.
Playing roster is one reason for our position on the ladder but so is poor coaching and IMO they are 2 seperate issues.

Genuinly interested to know if you believe that the players in our squad are playing their best?

Taylor has proven he can get results to a degree at parra and Souths

Our side would get lapped by those sides that he had previous

I can't think of a coach who could get a great deal more out of these blokes

And I doubt we will find out in the short term

We are a salary cap nightmare and Blair was our last major NRL signing

The rest have been fringe first graders really

Its pretty simple to me. Taylor has been the worst coach that I have ever seen. I don't get the spin trying to defend him. He said structures and focus on defence will fix those issues. It hasn't happened and it looks to have gone backwards. Our attack has been terrible. These two aspects of the game are pretty important and therefore we are coming dead stone last.

Cmon Steve let's get some FACTS involved here.

Attack and defence are both improved since the Potter years. You might not believe it, but average points per game (PPG) scored this year is 18.18, which is the best since 2012\. Av PPG conceded this year is 22.53, which is 5th best all campaigns.

I'll say it again: we are currently experiencing the 5th best defensive season Tigers have ever had.

I disagree. We are coming stone dead last. Its the worst season that I've seen.

I also think its the way we've lost games. We played boring footy and in my opinion capitulated prior to even walking out on the park due to out game plans.

To be fair I think Taylor has recognized that his structures weren't working and he has changed the approach.
