What did you expect

100% mate. Everyone here wants us to be in a position to recruit players. No one here has ever though just backing the juniors is a strategy to success.

You might think I hate Taylor but i don't. I feel sorry fro him not being able to recruit for 3 years, that is terrible. I didnt even mind his defensive focus. Most fans are in favour of that and that it was long over due to be a good defensive side.

I just don't like the fact he was cocky about changing it and even bagged the teams and coaches of previous years. Now he has the team running last, with crapper then ever defence. He looks like a right mug and the way he keeps saying we are improving the fans see this as pure spin.

Its still both Eddie

We don't have the personnel and they can't cope with the systems obviously

But we are finding out exactly who are keepers and who aren't , and the BOARD can't sugar coat it in the foreseeable future that juniors are the whole answer for our club

LOL you are moonwalking better than MJ ever could. You were telling us all not long ago that the "system" was working…now it is the players cant adapt to it properly...which I agree with by the way, just good to see you are coming around finally.

I don't understand, they say we have no money for recruitment but we made a healthy offer at forgot his name going from Newcastle to para.
And now we aren't buying players, something doesn't wash!

Good read - what most on here are saying

http://the81stminute.com/2015/07/taylor-facing-the-sack-unless-tigers-cubs-start-playing-footy/

Good honest assessment Taylor still makes poor decisions because his game plan tells him to take player x off and bring player y on regardless of the situation. He has learnt nothing this year and i dont think he ever will, very substandard coaching

This Journo prescribes to the thought process of outscoring the opposition

We've done that since day one and it hasn't worked , even with the fantastic sides we had from 2009-2012 that had good defensive players like Ellis ,Gibbs etc

So why would it work we we don't have the defence or the attack of those sides

Is this just a lazy cliche?

Have we actually prioritised attack?? or were we just better at it?

Players like Todd Payten came out and said we NEVER had that outscore the opposition attitude.

Maybe we just had some good attacking players and did our best in defence but was quite poor.

Taylor seems to have picked up this thing and run with it.

Good football is about balance and at its best in 2005, 2010, 2011 we had that balance.

I think its a bit of a myth this focusing on one thing or another. How about focus on both and try and do both well.

Its pretty simple to me. Taylor has been the worst coach that I have ever seen. I don't get the spin trying to defend him. He said structures and focus on defence will fix those issues. It hasn't happened and it looks to have gone backwards. Our attack has been terrible. These two aspects of the game are pretty important and therefore we are coming dead stone last.

Assuming that we keep the guy for the next 2 years how do we get him to improve. I think it starts with honest assessments of what he has done and how he has performed. Secondly I think he needs media coaching because he says a lot of dumb stuff.

Just a quick point for Happy as well. I've only seen games won when you score more than the opposition. If JT isn't trying to do that then he needs to go now.

I don't hate Taylor. I just think he is a dud coach who compounds his problems with his lack of class that comes across in his spin.

Hard to argue Stevetiger.

Its a brutally honest but fair assessment.

The interesting aspect for me is that if we are stuck with him, which appears most likely then as you ask how do we get him to improve.

I like the idea of media training for him, coming from Potter who showed class and dignity during his difficult times Taylor comes across like an educated bogan who says things with this cocky belief that the terminology he is using is impressing everyone.

He obviously has a heart and passion and a dedicated work ethic, they dont always come across.

Secondly what do we do with the football side of things, how does he improve this and start getting the majority of players to improve under his coaching.

Thats all im really looking for in all of this, i would like to see the squad improve. Its just not happening and most are either flat lining or going backwards.

Steve

I'll put this another way

Bennett was the opposition coach , do you think he would of been happy with the 42 points they scored or unhappy how they played when they let in 16 points ??

Bennett would of been spitting blood and that's how many Broncos fans sitting around me viewed it as well

Scoring points is easy , defending the points you score is far harder and takes a lot of commitment and accountability

Three of those tries were just plain soft

So what is your point??

We have let in plenty of soft tries this year. Yet Taylor has said we are improving and making progress.

It is his job to fix the defence. And he is failing at it. Yet he is not spilling blood but shifting blame.

Your arguing against yourself. Taylor needs to make them committed and accountable.

Tigers fans were not happy with the loss, they just accepted the flogging as thats how low expectations have become under Taylor.

I still believe many players aren't committed enough

When sides score tries from basic hit ups close to the line , the coach can't control that

Taylor is picking from the best available players we have

That is simply a defender not putting his body in front of the man and making a absolute commitment to making the tackle

Bennetts Broncos concede 16 - coach is spitting blood.

Taylor's Tigers concede 42- coach sees progress

Coaches number 1 job in all sports is motivating his players.

If players are not 100% committed believe it or not mate that is partly the coaches fault.

Thats why coaches get sacked, because they either can not motivate the group, or players don't want to run through a brick wall for them.

What's lack of depth got to do with a coaches ability to motivate his playing roster?

If any player in first grade needs motivation for every game, then he should not be in the side.

If you cannot motivate yourself to play any sport, then you are in the wrong sport.

Cmon Steve let's get some FACTS involved here.

Attack and defence are both improved since the Potter years. You might not believe it, but average points per game (PPG) scored this year is 18.18, which is the best since 2012\. Av PPG conceded this year is 22.53, which is 5th best all campaigns.

I'll say it again: we are currently experiencing the 5th best defensive season Tigers have ever had.

In principle i agree with what you say, but unfortunately its not that simple. Plenty of players need motivation to perform at their peak in every sport. Especially younger players who are still learning what being an adult is all about. Its why great man managers are highly valued in all sport.
