What do each of US feel about Wealth Inequality.

Perhaps going off topic, but in my opinion 'real change' can only happen from actual structural policy change at a Federal government level. What we see almost every election is a reshuffle of the same ideas with fancy new names & a % here moved to a % over there & a promise that they will achieve some socially acceptable ideal with no basis on how to do it.

Much like I believe the only way the Tigers can achieve any kind of dominance over the Big 5 or 6 clubs of recent times is by changing how the game plays (ie- Tim Sheens-Ball in 2005 changed how teams were playing), the only way we can shift the inadequacy of current society is through outside-the-box thinking.

Not sure how exited any of you are for a bit of outside-the-box thinking, but in 1910, the Danish government did just that....& they have a quite unique & effective way of dealing with housing in their country.

It's this kind of thinking (not necessarily copying this plan) that can actually change any kind of social failing we experience.

Sure did change the way teams play, because from that point on Melbourne became even bigger mongrels in the ruck, with new ideas about chicken wings etcetera, and wrestling has been a blight on the game ever since.

Back to the topic, taxation needs to return to similar levels of that before the right increased their haste in ruining worker organisations and any semblance of wealth equality. If your are on the right and find that offensive, suck on the fact that it coincides with the fall of union membership.

Their project has always been to divide and conquer, with race and immigrants basically the only tool left in their box to retain control. The trouble is their toolbox now includes virtually all media, especially social media, which is overwhelmingly controlled by the rich/right and full of bots and foreign accounts spreading further disinformation. Gaining Tic Tok will have their cup overflowing.

Part of it is yes, but part of it is as I described it as well.
People earning $100-120k/annum earn every cent of their pay. They should be free to decide if they give.
Most of them work long hours and sacrifice family time and holidays etc to bring home this dough. Him placing moral or ethical pressure on them to sacrifice further is nasty shit in my book.
The plight of people in developing and third world countries is not their problem. Go after the evil POS’s who are responsible.
I’m with you, mate. There isn’t a single answer that resolves all the challenges needed to take inequality through to complete parity. @BZN has done a great job promoting this discussion.

UK has the most millionaires leave out of any country in the world the in the past 12 months.... 100 Billion lost in the UK economy, if it can happen there it can happen here, that's evidence for you.

Yeah well, Brexit has changed residency status options and long been responsible for the loss of at least 4% of the nation's GDP according to their OBM, with a recent US report stating that the current figure of its damaging effects some decade on is likely closer to 8%.

Meanwhile we have the party rebadged as Reform, still led by the same man that was mostly responsible for Brexit and like it's lower leadership, seems likely to have long been a Russian asset that is still trying to divide the nation by blaming race and immigrants.

Again this party is funded and promoted by the wealthy that caused the wealth disparity and control nearly all forms of media.

I hope you don't think people earning less than $100K don't earn "every cent of their pay".

And yes, I agree everyone should be free to decide if they give, or not.

Do you know that research consistently shows that poor households donate a larger share of their income compared to wealthier households.
And the reason for that is empathy and proximity.
Lower income families are often closer to hardship, see what's going on in the real world and therefore more likely to empathise.

The national average wage is approx $105K,
so your example of someone earning up to $120K is a bit above average.
The national average for less skilled workers is to a max of $60K approx.

Do you also know that less skilled poorer workers are more likely to work longer hours to provide the basic needs for their family.

Your example of and in defence of people earning up to $120K needing to work long hours therefore "sacrificing family time and holidays etc." doesn't just apply to them, it's across the board.

Workers earning between $60K-$120K are not rich, but people earning less than $60K are poor.
Being forced to miss quality family time and holiday time to feed your family today is a disgrace.

Donald Trump, who is a convicted Rapist and Felon keeps on saying America is the richest country in the world and the $$$ keep flowing in.

So why do they have a poor/poverty rate of approx 10-11%,
that's approx. 37 million people.

The rich and powerful just keep on getting richer while the rest of us suffer.

Thanks Leck...I appreciate that.
Like a lot of people, I've found that as you get closer to the fall of the perch zone the important things in life start to become clearer.

I come from a family of 'doo gooders'.
My elder brother and his wife are involved with [and have been for quite a while] Amnesty International.
My only niece is a registered nurse, my only nephew has just graduated from uni as a lawyer 😱 and my eldest brother is heavily involved in politics.

Apparently, the brain of the average person has about 86 billion neurons, and I'm glad I wasn't the one who had to count them 🤓.

But I must have been shortchanged when I was born to about 6 million, as I don't have any of their skills 😵, so that makes me the ⬛🐑🐑 of the family.
