What happens with the hooking position?

Matt Mcilwrick has owned the position over the first 6 rounds, in each and every game he has created opportunities and has looked like a beyond average footballer. Dare I say, his performances have been up there with the best.

Jacob Liddle is another, he has played well in his limited time but I think he needs to be on the field more.

Matty is 25 and Liddle is 20 so you can't really groom one to take over from the other.

You definitely can not move Mcilwrick out at this stage but I am interested to know if Liddle has ever played in the halves before? Maybe he can move into 5/8 when Moses goes?

Mcilwrick can play the 80, he played very well yesterday up until around the 65th minute correct me if i am wrong.

I just think that to keep both, they both need to start and play longer minutes. Mcilwrick would be content with where he is right now but Liddle will get complacent very soon.

The least of our problems. Most clubs carry a bench hooker these days, so no need to decide between them. Carry them both.

Milky, we still have Ballin to come back fit again

Maybe we can keep the Taylor Ball legacy and have 3 Hookers ?

Ballins gone for 6 weeks mate so no chance hahahha

I agree, especially if they can keep making meters through the middle

That will help the forwards in terms of work load and the whole team moves forward.

No meed to have 4 giant forwards who tire out in 25mins off the bench and only manage 50meters

IMO both these boys tackle well too so that keeps the defence in the middle fresh with the rotation

I like both of them so would find it hard to choose. MM obviously hits well in defence and JL doesn't too bad either.

JL gives quicker service and is quicker out of dummy half. MM probably chooses the better time to go then JL does at this stage.

I would like to go back to one hooker as this means I am more comfortable with having MCK (handy utility enables us to cover injuries in both backs and forwards) on bench. I would like 3 bigger bodies on the bench.

I thought that Webster might have moved Liddle to half when Brooks went off injured against Storm.
When McIlwrick gets a bit more conditioning could he move to edge during a game to give Liddle time a DH, because MM doesn't shy away from defending.
Just a thought to throw out there.

Mcilwrick is so effective at hooker, I wouldn't play him elsewhere. I am so surprised, I thought he would be a dud tbh

Mcilwrick had a great game yesterday i liked he played longer minutes i think they helped with our cohesion. I think we lacked that when he went off far too early in games. Alternatively Liddle looked good and played well when he came on too, added another dimension to our attack.

I think around the 60 min point would be a good time to bring Liddle in and bring him along slowly, i wouldnt even worry about Balin anymore at this point these other two have what we need.

Continue as we are with McIlwrick and Liddle. Liddle played 25 minutes last night (FYI Milky).

Sign them both up, play it like last night and sub them as the game dictates. Liddle has done well and if he lives up to his potential then it'll be an easy decision, until then McIlwrick has earned his minutes and proved himself more than serviceable. Wouldn't be on much, great guy to have in the squad for cover, and like others have said, as long as we get decent output from our forwards there's no reason why we can't have both in the 17.

feels like a Austin - Moses situation

re-sign the proven performer ( Austin ) or re-sign on potential alone ( MOSES )

I don't think this non-issue needs to be addressed until at least the end of the year when we have a better idea of how we are tracking

Liddle is already signed for next season so that's no issue…McIlwrick is certainly pushing for his seat on the Bus...Must Clubs have at least 2 Rakes in their roster..I doubt Matty Ballin will go round again..

If this is about what to do on game days..nothings wrong with it so why stuff with it..

I think it's a no brainer to keep both of them and Balin gets let go. I mean Balin doesn't even really play for us anyway.
