What to do if KPI's are not reached

Stories around that there is a clause in the coaches contract that will allow him to be punted mid season if the tigers are not winning. I am not convinced that Taylor is the answer, but would look at the overall performance (including development and improvement of the younger players before getting rid of him. There has been a lot of talk about Ivan Cleary waiting in the wings, but I am not convinced that he would be any better (though may be more attractive to players the tigers are chasing). I think that there are other options out there that should be considered:
- David Furner
- Justin Morgan
- Walker Brothers
- Garth Brennan
Who else is available? Who is the best option?
 
I cant see the club allowing him to do what he tried to do with farah if such alleged KPIs exist

…but then again, it wouldnt surprise me
 
Time for now to let Taylor get on with it and give everyone at the club currently every chance of succeeding. With the draw we have we can have a really positive first couple of months if we are fit and firing. One thing for sure is Taylor will be better for what happened last year, he will have leant (you would think) about the style of football we need to play and how to utilise properly the squad at his disposal.

In Short your not coaching the Roosters with 12 internationals, so stop trying to be the Roosters.
 
This is a wait and see situation and if Taylor has the team playing well and improving then there is no need for a change. BUT if these KPI's do exist and Taylor is sacked half way through the year, I think the best candidate aside from Ivan Cleary(as it seems like the warriors are lining him up) is Todd Payten. Todd Payten has coached a lot of our young players including winning a Toyota Cup comp with a team that included Nofoaluma , Sue and Lovett. He played at the Tigers and maybe more importantly with Farah for quite a long time so this should bring a greater understanding of the dynamic with-in the playing group than Taylor has shown. Even though he left the Tigers coaching staff in less than ideal fashion a couple of years ago, he is still in my opinion one of the better and not to mention probably cheaper candidates for the job.

No mention of KPI's here…unless the CEO is fibbing...Taylor will see out 2016 at least IMO...paying out Coaches mid way through contracts are not a good idea...Taylor this year has assembled his own squad he should at least be given a season to work with it...besides a poor start to a season does not necessarily translate to a poor finish..conversely a good start doesn't mean a good finish...you only have to look back to 2015 for that...

What if in 2016 we make the 8 and give him an contract extension?

Taylor has done well considering the circumstances. Recruited well with limited funds now let him run the season and judge him on 2016\. 2015 was always going to be a washout regardless who was coach.
 
Difficult to set KPIs based on wins and losses for RL coaches, it is a zero sum game. Someone has to come first, some one else last.
I think Cleary is the obvious choice if Taylor is sacked .
I hope that the Walker brothers get a gig somewhere, I'd like to see variations in how teams play.
I also like Justin Morgan.

I am not sure about Brennan, he has a great record, but has always had great sides, he might get a chance

My choice for a coach would still be Toovey if we were to get a replacement

I really like this post! Why is there an opinion that there is an awesome coach out there with some magical ability to put old heads on young shoulders? Truth is that any coach will struggle to rebuild this club, and a successful first grade coach us not necessarily going to be suitable at rebuilding with the current level our players are at.

Other than the poor tactics early last season and the Farah circus, I can't see too much JT has done wrong. Our defensive improvement was noticeable, he moved players on that didn't want to be here or that were surplus to our needs, and he recruited depth.

Wouldn't it be nice if he could just do his job and give it his best shot, without constantly being at risk of having Brutus stab him in the back.
 
I have heard of JC being on the wing - what position does Brutus play?

Toovey (with Kimmorley), being the best of pound for pound footballers, could be what a few of our lightweights need - how to take on the big guys.
 
If Taylor is punted while still on contract we will go backwards by at least a season and a half, the new coach say takes over mid season, 2017 will be his "broom" season, so in 2018 we will be in the same spot as now - let Taylor see out his contract, he has done the hard yards !

I'm not even sure if that is the issue but I agree that there is no coach with a magical ability to make us win games.

I disagree with this. I think we have a decent team that is maybe missing a prop or two. I can see this team turning it around.

I think Taylor was terrible last year. Poor media comments, the Farah debacle and poor game plans. I think that was as bad as it gets. On top of that our defence and attack was ordinary. We didn't appear to be a well coached team.

I think there were some positive signs though. He appears to have let the Farah situation go, he appeared to recognise he came up with terrible game plans and changed that approach. I think he choose the team fairly well and he has recruited well.

I want to see him and the team do well but I view Taylor as one of the major risks going into a new season. I hope that he pulls it together.
 
I agree with the half that say let him see out 2016\. I think we have every right to judge how the season is going in RD13 then maybe look at what options there could be for 2017; contract and money willing. The horse hasn't even bolted yet and we already want superglue.
 
Lets see how he does this year, if we are still not even close to the top 8 i would punt him and bring in the walker brothers for next year.
 
Walker Brothers would not work at the Tigers imo.

In fact I don't think it will work in the NRL.

Big difference coaching lower grades to NRL. People were complaining that Taylor was a Rookie. JT has an extraordinary CV compared to the WB.

The names being bandied around as prospective coaches are questionable at best - most are not as good as JT.
Payton for God's sake.

Me thinks the idea is to improve your coach, if you get rid of your existing coach, not go backwards.

Let's give the current coach a fair go and then decide what needs to be done, if he fails, at the end of his contract.
