What we need to do in the long term

Everyone, chilll out! This year is almost completely gone due to injuries and salary cap pressures (1st and 2nd tier) but as Wests Tigers FANS we've gotta stick behind our team! I'm sure a lotta you were around from 2000-2004 but in the end the team came good :smiley: Despite the poor defence i really think the team had a solid dig against the dogs but we were COMPLETELY outclassed by bigger and faster men in kasiano, pritchard and morris/barba which is reasonable considering the state out back line was in.

What this team needs ASAP is a proper cleanout at the end of the season which would involve removing all the plodders and underachievers from the team which includes:

Spence
Utai
Masada
Lawrence
Miller
maybe Moltz
Lote to a management/coaching role
Blair

Then we can buy ONE aaron woods level prop, but one that relies on power and size rather than body contortion and foot work and ONE fringe SOO or SOO level centre like josh morris.

Furthermore, we need a cleanout of the staff like Royce as well as management (get rid of that stupid Balmain VS Wests board layout) WERE THE WESTS TIGERS!

Also, definitely dont give benj a pay upgrade. He's signed till 2015 or something, keep him on that if he comes together this year or next year with brooks and a pack then we can think about it.

Let's just hope the boys pull it together, try and tweak a few things have a proper dig and maybe get another 6-7 wins this season and avoid the spoon; maybe even string 2 or 3 together later on against some weaker teams when we have aysh, galloway, anasta and lote back.

Note that only three of the players you listed played last night and one of them only got about 25 mins.

We will be lucky to win another game.

Pretty simple really

We need Potter to decide what style of footy we are going to play in 2014 and beyond , and then buy players which will best compliment that style of footy

A pay upgrade for Benji? I really don't think that will help at all. Talking about player payments how much is the club paying out for Lote who as far as I know has no chance of ever playing again?

what needs to be done,can't be done.
until you have an independent board that can make decisions as a single entity,we will forever be using band aids to cover up.
 
Make benji earn his upgrade no other team want him . A clean out from top to bottom management including RECRUITMENT PEOPLE , keep potter and Payton and fletcher and get rid of the rest of the coaching staff and hire folkes back and an old school fitness trainer who isn't mates with them like skando . Get rid of all the deadwood like moltzen , miller, lawerence, Blair , Galloway, utai , lote and start looking for some quality marque players in the positions we need like 3,4,7,12,13,10

From what I have seen so far this year it really looks like West Tigers don't have any money to buy players (except Richards) for 2014.
 
The only problem is, Moltzen signed a three year contract, Blair after this year still has two years left on his contract. Lawrence still has two or three years left on his contract & we cant just get rid of these blokes as it will cost us heaps of money, the other players mentioned i agree let them go. Team are signing up the best players now & we are sitting on our asses doing nothing, there will be no quality players left to sign.
 
oh god…blair is here for another TWO? i thought he was on a two year contract till the end of this year. Maybe he and lawrence will do the right thing and find another team without making the Tigers pay em out? :S
 
We need a quality vs quantity approach for our recruitment next season. No more buying a host of mid-range first graders a la Reddy, Pettybourne, Thompson, Bell etc. We need a rep quality centre and a rep quality prop who are below the age of 30 and in peak form

There just aren't any out there for next season. All the young rep players were signed ages ago, so you're either buying other club's fringe players and oldies or taking a chance on a talented youngster.

In my view our problems are not related to personel. We have absolutly no orgonisation in attack and defence. No clear stratagy and definatly no direction. To me ,this is a coaching issue. Our effort cannot be faulted we seem to be wasting a lot of energy chasing dumb plays and defending second phase plays that we dont seem to be able to prevent.

That's o.k. the Wests Tigers club doesn't mind wasting money. They are already paying out Sheens and Lote Tuquiri for doing nothing at all. What happened to this club?
 
We need to resign our best young players before they wise up get the shits and look elsewhere.
Players know who can play and who can't…unlike our recruitment team.

They see us resigning players like Fulton and signing players over 30 and think.. Well life ain't going to get much better here in "plodders paradise", I might take up that offer from Manly or Souths or Roosters.
 
IMO the club would benefit from completely restarting.
Send everyone packing. And then re-establish itself next year/2015.

Easy. If any in this category are not playing to standard, drop them to State Cup. Then they have a choice, suffer the embarrassment of playing park footy or pull their finger out and have a proper go. Or ask for a release.

Short term pain for long term gain.

I know there are injury circumstances right now which probably mean that Potter needs to tread carefully but if and when we get some troops back he needs to draw a line in the sand!

The only one sent packing was Sheens..the others are still there making the same peanut decisions on recruitment and selection. Why are they keeping their jobs.
Everyone blamed Sheens yet its the same with Potter, Poor recruitment and players playing out of position…same same same.
