Just a note on this i was out watching the NSW cup at leichardt with some mates yesterday (great day btw if you get the chance go its real solid footy and you can actually hear the hits with the small crowds). Watching that game confirmed that we are picking the right players in FG. Mullaney is way to small and weak to be a FG fullback, struggles in defence and didn't really do anything to indicate he should be playing FG ever. The most impressive players for the Tigers were Moors who looked a class above , Nadira looked a good back up for Farah and Hyland actually looked better then I expected but thats about it. None of the backs stood out or made any claim for FG - though Nu Akerpira played his first game back and will be better for the run. Blake Lazarus playing for Newtown was probably MOM

Oh I know you were, I was just chiming in with my own thoughts on whether we should have a winger on the bench (a point you will have seen from my post that I disagree with…)

2 Galloways! Nice! 13 supposed to be Heighington?

Fulton has to be there in the 17 as well. To good to be in reserves.

That was really annoying to read 😕

1.Lawerence
2.Tuquri
3.Ayshford
4.Reddy
5.Utai
6.Marshall
7.Miller
8.Galloway
9.Farah (the real Robbie Farah)
10.Woods
11.Ellis
12.Blair
13.Heighnton

14.Bell
15.Fulton
16.Masala
17.Dwyer

Something tells me that Robert Lui is the player who has signed with the broncos at the start of the year but is reluctant to announce it until after the season. it would explain his shocking form in 2011 compared to what we saw from the kid at the back end of last year. Robbie Farah will have had his operation and hopefully he will be back to his world class best. Suddenly 2012 looks just as promising as 2011 if not better, hopefully the boys can cope with the hype and expectation this time around

nah mate I dont think I would be the only one. I just think its plain stupid not to have a winger on the utility. Tuqiris in his 30's for god sake. You don't think he'll get injured?

That reasoning doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Why are we so worried about what happens if a winger gets injured that we need to keep a spare winger on the bench?

What if Marshall gets injured? You can't put a prop at 5/8? Should we then keep a spare 5/8 on the bench? And what about Farah, who will play hooker if he gets injured? Do we need a spare hooker on the bench? Beau Ryan can't play hooker or half.

If we follow this reasoning we'll pretty soon end up with a bench of:

14\. Beau Ryan (in case we lose a winger)
15\. Mitch Brown (in case the fullback goes down)
16\. Jacob Miller (back up half)
17\. George Nadira (reserve hooker)

The reality is that winger is much easier to cover in an emergency that half or hooker. Just push Ellis or Fulton into the centers and move Lawrence or Ayshford to wing. They've all started games in those positions before.

But if you're half goes down, it's not much help having winger on the bench…

It would be even better if the NRL allowed for more spaces on the interchange bench than the current 4\. Still have a limit of 10 changes per game, however have more spots available in more positions.

i think it will be something like this

1\. Reddy
2\. Lote
3\. Ayshford
4\. Lawrence
5\. Utai / Brown / Ryan
6\. Marshall
7\. Lui / Miller
8\. Galloway
9\. Farah
10\. Woods
11\. Blair
12\. Ellis
13\. Heighington

14\. Bell
15\. Murdoch-Masala
16\. Groat
17\. Fulton

i've left dwyer out, coz i don't think we are going to get good news, but i hope to God he gets back on the field

The more i look @ the teams named for 2012 the more i like them BUT the problem is has Moors signed, Utai, Brown, Daniella, & is Lui going to Brisbane & Dwyers injury. So when you look @ whats happening with these players we could still be in the hunt to sign up a couple more players for next year?.

sorry no offence but that is just stupid reasoning for wanting someone to have a spot on the bench
its called a RE-SHUFFLE

It doesn't have to be a winger, but a utility back isn't that bad an idea. It's not just about possible back injuries but also the way Sheens uses his bench - half the pack are playing 80 minutes most weeks so having 4 forwards doesn't really work. With a bigger pack things may be different.

Exactly mate that's what I'm trying to get through to that guy.

the only thing you were trying to 'get through to me' was that it was good to have a winger on the bench coz Lote is over 30 and is more of a risk of picking up an injury
like i said a weak reason
and 99% of people on this forum would agree

I will give it a go but who knows what may happen between no and the start of next year. For mine

1\. Joel Reddy
2\. Lote Tuqiri
3\. Blake Ayshford/ Curtis Sironen (think he will start his NRL career in the centres)
4\. Chris Lawrence
5\. Marika Koroibete (he has what we need out wide, pace and plently of it)
6\. Benji Marshall
7\. Rob Lui/ Josh Miller
8\. Keith Galloway
9\. Robbie Farah
10\. Matt Bell
11\. Adam Blair
12\. Chris Heighington
13\. Gareth Ellis (he may go to prop as Sheens has said in the past, especially if Ashyford goes to the backrow)

14\. Simon Dwyer ( I hope)/ Matthew Groat (will play a bit of NRL next year)
15\. Aaron Woods
16\. Liam Fulton/Ben Murdoch-Masila
17\. Mitch Brown

Looking at the above squad it is pretty good and we still have some promising young players that can come into the top 30.

Haven't seen too much of the younger crop coming through, but supposedly that's where we're spending a big chunk of our money, so hopefully the results of that will show soon enough.

1\. Mitch Brown
2\. Joel Reddy
3\. Blake Ayshford
4\. Chris Lawrence
5\. Lote Tuqiri
6\. Benji Marshall
7\. Jacob Miller
8\. Keith Galloway
9\. Robbie Farah
10\. Matty Bell
11\. Adam Blair
12\. Gareth Ellis
13\. Chris Heighington

14\. Liam Fulton
15\. Aaron Woods
16\. Simon Dwyer
17\. Matt Groat/George Nadira

Toying around with the idea of George Nadira off the bench to give us a bit of direction around the ruck late in each half, push Robbie wide and take some heat off Benji and Miller. Don't get me wrong, Farah's a class hooker, but we need a bit of punch off the bench, and I think little George would be great around some tiring forwards.
Not too keen on the prospect of Dan Vidot coming, don't rate him too highly and we've got a fair bit of depth around our outside backs anyway. From what I'm hearing, our young blokes are looking the goods, so I'm hanging out to see how that turns out, and maybe catch a Tigers vs WA Reds game in the (hopefully) not too distant future!
