When is goal kicking practice?

Pat Richards is a long forgotten memory, or at least that's what it feels like.
And will we ever have a sharp-shooter again?

Who will be kicking for us this game?
What conversion percentage will we get?
40%, maybe 45% ??

Goals are so important, nothing demoralizes oppositions like points on the board!
Come on fellas - just do it!!

Goal kicking practice will be sometime after training starts but before training ends.

I hope this helps.

Probably not true at all, players from other teams always say they practice goal kicking after the training session is completed. About 20 minutes worth

Although I doubt our boys do that with the atrocious record

I don't recall Moses missing any easy ones, the ones missed were border line quite difficult and only missed by a slither.

So far this season, 74.9% of all goal kicks in the NRL have been successful. By club, this is:

Knights - 95.0%
Titans - 90.5%
Cowboys - 87.3%
Manly - 82.5%
Raiders - 79.6%
Sharks - 76.9%
Warriors - 76.2%
Panthers - 75.0%
Eels - 74.4%
Souths - 71.7%
Broncos - 71.2%
Bulldogs - 69.6%
Dragons - 66.7%
Roosters - 66.7%
Storm - 64.7%
Wests Tigers - 59.1%

Rankin is kicking at 61.9% and Moses is 56.5% this season.

It seems to me that a high percentage of our kicks are from out wide. I'd love to get some stats on different teams' success from kicks broken down by kicking location.

Any chance of Jason Taylor fitting Manaioa Rudolph somewhere is first grade? He is a very good goal kicker when with Wests Tigers and was the top point scorer in the 2012 NYC competition.

It must be reassuring to the Knights to know they've got the highest kicking % in the NRL

Hodkinson is a great kicker. Unfortunately for them, they have only had 20 attempts in 11 games. Next lowest number of attempts is Dragons with 33\. Most clubs have 40+, with the Broncos leading on 66\. They love to take the 2 points…

Moses is a good goal kicker but to me it seems that he's not sure what his style is all of a sudden. Sometimes he swings it right to left, sometimes he hits it straight as an arrow, and sometimes it even seems to swing left to right.

Previous champion goal kickers have always said you need to trust your hook, or lack thereof. When he's going through all these different styles in the same match and weather conditions no wonder he's so inconsistent!

The number of times he'll make a kick aiming for the right post and seeing it go through the middle only to then aim for the middle with his next effort and miss to the left is so frustrating!

But we a;so do have to remember that we score far more tries out wide than other clubs. When was the last time one of our forwards barged over next to the posts? That once a season miracle is always hard to recall. Our outside backs score nearly all our tries. We don't have try scoring back rowers or impact props that barge over.

Rudolph? Please. Moses used to kick over 80% in the lower grades, and goal kicking is one skill which is directly transferable regardless of the level you're playing at. A bit more pressure shouldn't impact anyone playing first grade. It's just that he's lost confidence in his technique at the moment for some reason.

Ok quick rundown each task is run by a member of the leadership group

3.00 pm Bag the coach in the media (No name required )

3.15 pm Arm grabbing in defence and then not chasing ( Halatau )

3.30 pm Putting massive amounts of hurt on defenders (Woods)

3.31 pm Moving up in a straight line (Naiqama )

3.32 pm Screaming out of the line and tackling no one (Naiqama )

4.32 pm Meet with manager to screw the WT's for every dollar (Brooks and Moses)

5.32 pm Playing kick ass football and putting your body on the line for 80 minutes (Tedesco)

5.33 pm Goal kicking (Woods , he thinks they are all good , well better than him anyhow )

5.34 pm Giving away dumb penalties (Jesse Sue )

5.35 pm Prayer group (Elijah Taylor )

6.35 pm Ringing Todd Payten to see when he is coming back because it's all too hard

7.35 pm Singing Taylor's praises to the media and then suggesting we sign a 4 year ex team mate has been (Lawrence)

Big day for the boys 4 and a half hours of gruelling , mind blowing training

Happy you need to add;

- Using blinkers to carry through with the called play regardless of what's in front of you (Broses)

- Getting owned on kick returns (Rankin)

- Finding your back when tackled (Lovett)

Hope there's time in the busy afternoon.

How about having two players practice goal kicking, and another three practicing field goal for at least 20 min each session.

Also practice golden point scenario's over and over of players getting into position for field goals.
So it becomes second nature, and happens automatically.

As I recall, Jason Taylor was a fairly decent goal kicker in his day. I would have thought he is in a good position to train up anyone who is keen to learn.

Oh! and Happy you forgot -

5:45pm Standing in your 'in' goal and watching the opposition score (Session run by JAC)

5:55pm Catching bombs with a good chance of dropping them (Session run by Nofo)

It'll be lucky if they have time to go home before they have to come back. Lol

Since they've probably only scored about 10 tries all season, I guess that percentage wouldn't be hard to maintain!

One of the problems with our goal kicking, is that nearly all of our try's are scored out wide giving our kicker harder shots.
