When will we know if the club made the right decisions ?

I was asked by a relative who doesn't support the Tigers, how and when we will know whether this whole "rebuilding phase" and blooding of youngsters was actually successful. My answer was we will see in 2 years time if the club did actually do the right thing or not.

He told me to imagine that players like Brooks, Moses and Sironen don't kick on, Taupau leaves and Teddy keeps getting injured and we continue to miss the finals the next 3 years. I thought about it and it really did scare me, considering everything we have been building to the last 3 years has been for the success we expect to come next year at the very least.

If we make the top 8 in 2016, top 4 in 2017 and challenge for the grand final in 2018, 2019 and 2020

Would the last 3 years have been worth it ?

What if we don't even make the finals over the next three years ? What happens then ?

Tony, that's what I've been asking, "what's plan B"

I can understand this obsession with telling players that theve got as long as it takes to come good if we have a Strong team to at least cover for them somewhat,
But we don't have that luxury. We have a team that is marginal at best.
Forgetting the Moses situation for now. How long do you honestly believe that a player like Taupau is going to want to play here , when the big offers start to come his way ?
Oh that's right, he loves the club and will stay, what a load of Bollocks!!!!
If the team can show some promise. There would be something to attract players and keep them
Players need to know that are NO guarantees anymore and pick teams purely on effort and form. Even the ones who have no gaurantees, know that your more likely to run under a bus
Than get dropped and this needs to change. What the hell is there to lose
As it stands now, there is no Plan B.

Forget plan B

What about plan now?

Still charging full price for membership and merchandise arent they. . . .

One of the clubs decisions already appears to be wrong,we had a Man as a coach last year, prepared to make tough decisions, but kept him handcuffed, blindfolded and ankle taped ,white anted him from within, yet the team played attractive football under him until injuries and lack of form from a couple of players blew the ship out of the water.
Neither of those couple of players played to their dollar value yesterday, when you would expect them to show leadership in a close game- are they playing for Taylor?

'plan now' is giving all these young talented players the time to learn their trade in the top grade with the goal of being consistently successful within the next year or two when they are all regular first graders.

My question is what if that plan doesn't work out (God forbid), how much more pain can we Wests Tigers supporters handle ?

I believe in the plan, I really do. But one has to consider the consequences if the plan doesn't unfold to script.

I think Taylor needs at least another year to weed out some players and to introduce some new players before we make a call on the direction the club has taken. Their are no certainties in football, you could buy DCE and he breaks down for the season in his first game, just like Brooks and Moses might not turn out to be the super stars the media have built them up to be.

All I know is I do not think things would be any different who ever was coaching the side, our roster has to many holes in it at present

Havent you noticed, that "plan Now " or "Plan A" (or whatever they want to call it) isnt looking too healthy right now,
Actually I'd be surprised if there is a Plan Now

4:39pm on the 16th of September 2016..it will be Sunny outside..

I would say the decision on the coach will be defiantly known before seasons end..I just get the feeling watching the players they are going though the motions a new structure does not mean you do not hit the ball up hard or hammer a player in defence and we all know what that means and for it to be happening round 10 is alarming.
I was always a bit sceptical about the amount of younger talent the club boasted , the halves pairing at the moment is quite unique in the sence I doubt it has never happened before to any club basically 2 rookie halves a big ask ? But a lot of there problem ATM is a poor forward pack.
Talking of the forwards the younger guys that have been earmarked for good things I must say I would not resign any of them including Sirro ,this part of the equation the club promoted was way of the mark all plodders IMO.Couple this with many older types that are over the hill the club is really pushing it up hill.
I would actually say that the decisions made were way of the mark and made for financial reasons and driven by the terrible running of the club previously. IMO the club is in a very bad position moving forward I have real doubts now about Taylor's ability as a coach and with the standard of player young and old ..I know this is negative but this is the vibe that I am getting .

That worries me. As I said in another post; JT told us that all the players bought into his plan at the start of the season, but do they still? Some might just be getting a bit tired of carrying the can while others learn their trade.
My speculation, but yesterdays performance seemed very lacklustre and similar to the end of last season. Anybody have a measure of morale within the camp?

i understand that you want this plan or whatever, to work out, I doubt that anyone wouldnt rather that to be the case ,
but you are not blindly saying that that isnt neccessarily the only result.(as some are)

But what i cant understand is the people clinging to the fact that Moses was fantastic in the lower grades , so that is automatic that he will be a gun in first grade,
Maybe at some stage he will be , but theres nothing to justify the somewhat OTT ravings about him, as maybe he wont be.
I am only going on what i have seen in the top grade, and that doesnt add up to the Gun player described. and thats taking account of all the excuses.
I hope that happens , but maybe the pressure put on him from day 1 to be the next W\T star hasnt been much of a help

I think that you put Brooks in a boncos team and he stars most weeks. You put Moses in the bulldogs team and he's a star. Somehow I don't think that Bennett or Dessie would play the both of them in the same team at their clubs.

The thing is each of our forwards need to be at the top of their game for us to win in any given game whereas the bulldogs, boncos, roosters forwards can play average any week and still be a big chance of winning.

In other words we're a low to mid-level side right now. I will give JT the benefit of the doubt as he has had very little say in the make-up of this squad.

He's had a lot more say than Potter had , much smaller injury list, results no better, if he is too stubborn to change his "structure" which cant be seen week to week, we should change him

I disagree Cq tiger, i personally think JT is not playing them Brooks and Moses to there strengths and getting them to play a game there not Familiar with , it will take time for them to adapt to JT's structures . JT is getting away from there natural strengths and getting them to play a diferent style.

Daly Cherry Evans and Foran haven't had a problem playing together when they 1st came on the seen together .
Moses looked good in glimpses yesterday playing of the cuff and what he saw in front of him.

The rest of your post i agree , Spot on

Probably never. Cos even if it gets to the point where its clear that some of these guys are just plodders, we'll still be hearing we need to wait another 2 to 3 yrs.

No no i mean plan now as in i dont think we should wait to see how it turns out. We should have hedged our bets and kept some of the experienced players we let go.

The club expects us to cough up full membership costs, full merchandise costs, full everything yet they are giving us half an team for this year.

No surprise we are only seeing half an effort.

Fair Comment… I agree with what your saying. Having such a great crop of kids come through at the same time appears to be a bigger challenge than having 1-2 every 3-4 years.
