Who is our backup halfback?

We have the 2018 half back of the year and I expect he'll go even better this year.
But who is our backup number 7 if Luke is unavailable for whatever reason? I can't even name the ISP half back.
Seems to be the position with the least depth in the whole team. The most likely candidates like Benji and Mbye are better in other positions.
My solution: Benji. Reynolds will get the NRL number 6 before Benji. Put Benji in ISP at 7 to get him ready in case he has to sub for Brooks.

Agree. If everyone is fit.
1st grade
Brooks 7 Reynolds 6
Reserve grade
Benji 7 Gamble 6

Benji will be cover for both 6&7 at NRL level

Benji covers 6&7\. Farah can cover 7 with Liddle at 9\. Matterson,Gamble, Momers can cover 6\.
We have good depth this year all over the park.

Young Jock Madden .. !! There are raps on this guy .. apparently they are saying he has similiarities in his game to Andrew Johns .. !!

This is Farah's last year so we can't be dependant on him being our backup half, it'll need to be Gamble/Madden because they are much younger and will be playing for longer

Clear case of Sheens Syndrome dear Watson!
2nd rower to 5/8, center to half, ….or let's play endless permutations game
and now wing to half, or 2nd rower to half :cyclone:
What happened to 'like for like' substitute, please explain.

Those options would involve either weakening another position (by moving Mbye) or putting in someone like Farah who only played at 7 long ago and not very well.

He can play first grade from about July onwards - so would depend when an injury occurs but no, we certainly wouldn't throw him in round 1 in any case should brooks get a minor injury in the coming weeks.

I was being sarcastic ….Tim Sheenius used to play Farah at 7 all the time

Would of been better playing Wade McKinnon at 7 back in the day :sunglasses:

More sarcasm just in case you are unsure

Benji is the backup 6 or 7\. Last year he subbed for Reynolds pretty much the whole year, but was much more a second halfback than a running 5/8th. Benji did a lot of first reciever and kicking work his side of the ruck, so for him to take over as the primary half won't be a stretch if it's required.

Benji is not, has never been and will never be an NRL quality 7.
Anyone who plays him there is weakening the team.

Obviously we don't have two NRL quality halfbacks, so the backup half with also be makeshift.
If Brooks is injured I think Madge will go with Benji's experience.
Madden is too young.

Well he did come 2nd in the Dally M's in 2015 playing halfback so I'm not too sure about that…
