Who is our worst

Many have acknowledged that Brooks was one of our best, but then follow that up with he didn’t do what a halfback was expected to do. A fair point, but why does that land on Brooks, surely that’s a coaching issue. Brooks is a 5/8, yet the club have persisted in playing him as the half. Even the club has come to understand this, going all in for Moses. I agree that maybe it’s time we changed that and brought Wakeham on, yet I’d move Brooks to 5/8 and probably move AD to the bench.

This is a better argument. Brooks was easily one of our best players. He was caught on the 4th which left Api and Doueihi to make the 5th play. They couldn't do anything with it. That was the issue.

The problem is people are expecting Brooks to win us the game but he isn't that player. You can get good defense, good running game, minimal mistakes, a decent kicking game but you don't get a creative player who is going to win you games regularly.

We need other players to step up.

Clearly yesterday Brooks wasn't the problem. Stef was really really bad. AD was really really bad. I thought Api was pretty good but he didn't nail those big plays when he had a chance. Brooks didn't get those chances.
This isn't really true right. You can function with Brooks playing the way he did yesterday because he didn't stuff it. It's the mistakes which kill us.

You do need some class player to create and Brooks isn't that guy.

You can't function with Stef and AD making so many mistakes. Nofo was really poor as well.

I was hopeful AD would come good but I'm starting to think we are trying to make him into something he isn't which is exactly the problem that Brooks has had for a while.
While ever he is the senior player at the club that most identify us with, is vocally and publically backed by the coaching staff but is not captain material , and is excused for not having the smarts to execute an effective attacking structure against a team with twelve men and on the rack - we are going nowhere.

AD ,is not, and never has been a good 5/8 . Overated, and used as a battering ram for the Brooks haters.
No i'm not a Books big fan, but he is far better then the baggers make him out to be. TT, To'a , appear brain dead and lacking agression and basic talent, Laurie is not a fullback, Nofa is past it. we need genuine SPEED in the backline.

The way I view it is really simple. Brooks and AD have the same role. Put them under the same microscope. Peeps aren't doing that.

I completely refute the comments about To'a. He is our best centre. Yesterday he came on and made a great fend and a decent run and put in a fantastic grubber when we were on the attack. His grubber was better than anything our spine produced on the last tackle.

Nofo appears slow. We screwed up giving him a long term top dollar contract. Massive mistake.

Brooks, Laurie and AD need to be upgraded longer term. It's just going to be impossible getting 3 new players in those positions for next season.

As many on here know I have been critical of Luke over the years but also praised him as well...
I mentioned after RND1 that Brooks has been in rehab for an injury and has had a long layoff...
I said that this year is his year to prove his worth,he is doing what needs to be done atm,ITS the other players that are new to our system that have to get used to Sheens and Benji coaching, lets face it Api comes to us from a very successful system,Klemmer is an international forward,Papi a rising second row demon and a mix of youth that are very talented..The answer in my opinion is that AD has to perform in a team where he does his job NOT TRY and win games on his own,Brooks really needs to do what Hastings did last year ie. yell point and direct this mob THATS WHAT A HALF DOES...Luke did some good things yesterday and I will give him the chance to show us an improvement in his job as the season develops,it will be hard for many to adapt to Sheens style, let alone his apprentise coach...
worst player in my opinion is Noffa, big extention for little output from an experienced winger...
I get it, you want Brooksy to be more animated. I thought a 7 should be more unpredictable? More adaptable to changing circumstances.
Compare Brooks’ and Hastings non verbal language and you see the difference, you know 9 times out of 10 Hastings takes his 3 steps in exactly the same direction to clear the ruck.
Watch how much attention Brooks attracts when he has the ball? Sadly it’s oppostion attention. 😝
We have a lot of dumb players in the squad with limitations but Brooks isn’t one of them. If the coach wants him more animated...then send him to drama classes.

The only good game we've played this year was against Canberra. Guess who wasn't playing? Completely consistent with every other year.

So Brooks is like a negative talisman or something. Pretty dumb argument right.

Hastings and Madden would've been a strong halves pairing - toughness, control and flair vs lack of direction and confusion.

Really. They are both ordinary. Maybe worse than Brooks. Maybe better at times but not great.

AD is awkward to tackle, which is his strength. He's only 5/8 to get him closer to the action, but he should be centre until ready for 2nd row.

It's a real worry. He wants to be a 6 but he doesn't appear to have it. His defense is trash.

I've thought for a while he could be a really good edge backrower if he gets his defense right. I likened him to Wade Graham who at times was unstoppable.

It's probably time to bin the halves experiment with AD but I expect him to play there this season. He'll have a couple of good games and give us false hope.

Agree with To'a i mentioned the wrong guy. Wakeham should be 5/8 . Steff dropped, AD dropped and not extended. Laurie ? Seyfarth for all the bagging, is one of the few with agression and energy. There will be other players we can buy or upgrade. I would keep Brooks, the others will just be more square plugs in round holes, piss them off, or we will never clear our backline of duds.

Let's break this one down because there have been so many dumb arguments that have been refuted.

The first part has nothing at all to do with Brooks. It's not even an excuse for the dumb comments regarding Brooks. It's just something you made up.

The part about him not being able to execute our attack is also false. It's false because you are blaming one player when it is 4 players that are most responsible. I'd be even harsher and state it's up to mostly 3 players in relation to what you are talking about which is executing in the opposition attacking zone. Brooks on yesterdays performance was the best out of those 3 or 4 players.

Now if we look longer term sure we need better options to win the comp than the 1, 6 and 7 we have now. Maybe one of them can survive in their current positions but they would need to improve considerably.

AD has already been extended but if the coaching staff are fair dinkum Stef, AD and Nofo should be dropped for next week.

Brooks to me definitely keeps his spot. He is at this point easily the best running half that we have. He might be a dud next week and then I'll join the pile in but I'll watch the game and judge his and others performance on how they actually play unlike a bunch of others on here.

Bob Fulton .

Been said and acknowledged mate. Few and far between though. Big thing with Fulton is he was arrogantly tough and brilliant. Benji just touch dotty brilliant. I just don't see him working. Really hope I'm wrong. Good win over the Dogs has never been so important.

No. It's not about caring too much. It's about not having the ability to play in the halves. His game management is considerably worse than Brooks. I stated this prior to yesterdays game as well.

His defense is atrocious. It's so bad that he is consistently targeted by opposition teams. His game management is the worst I've ever seen. Cronk stated he looks to want to score off every touch and it's all high risk plays. His bombs are okay but inconsistent. His running game is his strength but he isn't running enough.
I agree with this.. I’ve yet to see Douhei tackle around the legs , or even really use his shoulder in a tackle.. seems to arm grab, and even that is done without much commitment .. I get so frustrated watching .. like , he is in first grade FFS!

Stuff Hastings wish we had of folded him and Gamble yesterday. All I want next week Is for our fowards to whack blokes set after set attack with our defence 😤 we think we are the Harlem globe trotters all flash push passes no direction. Lay the platform save the flashy stuff for when the opposition is wrecked. We have the fowards to do it but this sideways crap with no pace is hard to watch.
Preach it, my friend !!! Exactly this ! ☝️

It's just dumb. The coaching staff have been incompetent. I think some of this came back to Sheens really talking TT and Blore up for who knows why.

As for the supporters a bunch of them are going full moron style because we've been terrible for years on end but it's not really an excuse.

So much for turning the club around this season. Hopefully the coaching team watch that game and make changes but they also need to look at themselves.
Blore is a teriffic player, when he is on the field .. sadly he doesn’t get on the field very often, due to injury.. but , mate, when he is out there he does some classy and tough stuff . That guy is a footballer

You don't reckon that currently Brooks is the most identifiable player at the club after nine seasons and numerous coaches and players who have come and gone? C'mon - he is about the only Wests Tigers player that gets talked about and rightly or wrongly.
