Who would harden up the Wests Tigers

At the start of this year I was optimistic.
We had Madge, who seemed to be running everything go out and recruit 2x assistant coaches. Those being Nathan Cayless and Gardiner.

Of which I thought Nathan Cayless was to be working on defense. At first I thought it was a bad decision as he would get the forwards firing but wouldn't be strategic enough with the backs and defensive structures. Then I heard him speaking about admiring the WT as a Granville kid.

How wrong was I.

This year we have gone entirely backwards.

We seem unable to develop or improve players on our own.

Many games we just seem SOFT. We get a try scored against us and go to sleep.

So I ask, who would harden the WT up? Who would you hire to work on our forwards for beef/tackling punch and who would you hire on defensive structures? Would you keep Cayless or go someone else?

This year we have gone entirely backwards.

We've had a tonne of injuries plus we had Sheenius come in and fix the joint via sacking the coach and letting Luc go. That was a clear message he and the club have given up on this year.

The reality is we aren't putting a decent team on the park and our forwards as a group would struggle in reserve grade.

It's not the coach. You can't make gourmet meals out of shit ingredients.

A few ideas mentioned:

Mine - Cronulla seemed to have a really strong Gym Culture between Luke Lewis, Chris Heighington and jayson Bakula. If that could be replicated here that would be great and I had heard it was Jayson pushing the other two.

Look at Josh Morris to coach a Center/Backline defense. We never seem to have our defensive structures right. Wingers always getting caught out of position.

The Dogs cleared out their physical training team when Barrett came, While they come last, it wasn't for lack of effort by the forwards but Dessie blowing their cap. Can't be worse then what we have???

Others
- SBW, He has a professional attitude. Improved Easts. no idea how he would go here.

Shayne Webcke/Petro/Thaiday/anyone lying around at Brisbane who knows how to coach forward punch. Lets face it Joe Ofanague is one of the few players with the right attitude.

Hire Sirro/Blocker??

Otherwise I have no idea. We need to hire someone to get this side of the WT going. Sure we will have the Center of Excellence, but without the right people guiding it, it won't go anywhere.

It is the coach.

You can't make meals out of awful ingredients. Yet my mother in law can make a 5 spice chicken that taste's heavenly, I can make you want to order Mcdonalds 🙂

James Tamou, a reserve grade player? Who took Penrith to the finals?
Stephano? An origin player last year?
These players should be improving. Yes we have injuries but we had a reasonable side today.... Nothing.

We lost 22 to 2 against a side missing their star player and that made a stack of errors. If it's 22-16, sure that happens. When it's 22-2 it means our defense isn't competitive and our attack is asleep!

Coach, Flanagan
Defence and attitude, Gallon
Attack, Barrett
I am starting to think Flanagan is the only answer.
At the Bulldogs he has been a bit of an ass. Trying to undermine Barrett and Potter to get the coaching gig. That kind of Behavior is bad and not something I want at our club...

Yet I think we need someone who can take a side from 16 to the top. Flanagan is one of the few people who can do that. No idea how his son fits our roster, but hey neither Brooks or Hastings said keep me this weekend.

BTW do you mean Paul Gallen?

Yes, Paul Gallon. I personally never liked him, seemed like a grub at the time, but he had everything as a player that no one in this team has,and needs to be coached into them.

Some termination letters and a few bottles of bleech to soak the stench outta the place.

Like @hobbo1 said... they don't deserve to even set foot in a centre of excellence after this garbage.

Api and Papa are good incomings.

No more nice guy image / retirement plans.
Make a statement.

Brooks- you're fired.

Hire hard men like Tapine, Brown, whatever else we can get...
Tell em it's time to work.

Don't like it - go join Nofo on stress leave.

I suspect if Mr Gadget didn't get involved we would have signed TPJ, he would have went some way to giving us some muscle. With Api and Papallii coming next year we would only would need to add someone like Tapine and we'd be fine. I'm hoping I'm wrong but there's a few more years in the wilderness for us fans if we don't get some a couple experienced forwards for next year

Kyle would be our back up half at a 3rd of the cost of Brooks. Also a good goal kicker, and playing much better recently. In my opinion better than Madden.

Hastings is slower than me, if he is injured, rest him, no point aggravating an injury for nothing, if not injured try someone else
Hastings has been worked out by other NRL teams. That's why it is the NRL. He offers no threat in attack which places pressure on the backline.
