Why is Lovett still a Tiger

We've bought a few decent forwards for 2018 in Mcqueen, Matalino, Packer and Twal, which will patch up our starting 17, but our depth in the forwards is still inadequate. Next year we'll be two injuries away from recalling Kyle Lovett.

He's not contracted for next year.
The club will definitely be making further forward signings for 2018.

I hope we re-sign him, he is constantly improving. By 2030 he should be a solid first grader

Lovett is a Tiger junior, who just does his best every week. He might not have talent as others have, however he is not selecting himself , he is just doing enough to be selected. Also, any one of you out there, if you had Lovett's talent, would try to do the same as him. Get off his back , he is doing good.

Well I for one would like to see him continue to do good - but in reserve grade.

Drops the ball, makes hardly any metres in attack and wouldn't cause more damage to the opposition in a tackle than a pillow. You say he does his best, I do not dispute that , but his best is not good enough for the NRL.

There is a very good reason we won on the weekend - Lovett didn't play.
It is a lot easier when you have six forwards on the field at any one time.

Spot on. Why is this even being debated he is our forwards version of Rankin.

Come on. He snorts cocaine and is a professional footballer in his 20's. I don't even think it should be illegal.

The only problem is if they get caught.

One of the most ridiculous comments I've ever read. Hang your head in shame.

You hit the nail on the head there Russell

A person who uses illegal drugs goes through stages but my argument is not that it's deceitful, it's that he goes from trying it once to buying it to fulfill a need. The act of buying illicit drugs automatically means that you are associating with criminals and if it was to their advantage, these criminals would use your drug issue against you without hesitation.

Currently, there are reports of NRL players supplying information about their teams to persons unknown BUT is it a step too far to imagine that these players and their possible drug use are somehow involved?
When you are in a very public job, as an NRL player is, your reputation is very valuable and if your criminal associates threatened to use your drug taking against you, there is very little in the way of alternatives available to you other than to comply and have your reputation remain intact.

World wide, many elite sports people have been caught out dealing with "bookmakers" with actions from supplying information to throwing matches.

Why is Kyle Lovett still a Tiger? I suppose it's because the club have forgiven his sins and that he has been required by the coach to play NRL. I think that clubs and the NRL need to crack down on drug users to avoid the taint of criminality in this game, as well as the issue of how drugs affect your ability to play at your peak but as long as there is no consistent approach, the sanctions will reflect the players value, as assessed by the football department.

Since the Taylor's left and Rankin going . or gone, it's not so much fun any more
Quite apart from that, that's a strange place to have high tea, isn't it.
Still , I suppose it's not far if you have to "go ", during time you are there.
Maybe Marina was holding them in the wrong room :stuck_out_tongue:
