Why is Lovett still a Tiger

Relax, he won't be here next year.

Regardless of that, we had the opportunity to get rid of him, instead we kept him on and are now paying a hefty price for that. Look at it like someone who is busting for a dump, walks past a toilet and says "I'll just hang on until the next one" and before you know it WHAM!…..they've soiled themselves.
The lesson is always take whatever opportunity is afforded to you to offload crap. Or pay the price down the track.

The club was about to go on a major recruitment drive. If you're trying to persuade players to sign for you I'd suggest that making it clear that you're happy to sack people for making a single small mistake is probably not a great bit of business. Lovett costs nothing and no-one wanted to take him off the Tigers' hands: might as well keep him on the books and use him as an example of how the club works with players who get in trouble rather than turning its back on them.

This sounds like the only logical decision to a decision that has defied logic.

Pay what price down the track? He's not the difference between making the eight or not.

Given that other players have beaten their wives and their clubs have retained them (this club is included in that dubious statistic,) you think that being caught with a bit of marching powder rates a lot lower on the atrocity scale.

We've also been in the spot light in the past for apparently not caring about player welfare, maybe the club thought it prudent to work on it with him.

I guess I am not privy to the clubs discussions but there are likely good reasons why he was retained. He will likely not be here next year when it matters. I am OK with that.

Kyle Lovett may well fill one of those 25-30 spots next year we still have available after all… he's in the system and Coaches seem to call on him when we are down on troops...

There's already enough melodramatics in this thread without having to tell people he may well be retained

He should have been let go, but for reasons beyond comprehension we kept him and gave him a starting spot for which he pays us back with brilliant performances on the field.

So, there you go, averages 35 tackles per game with 1 error. No, he's not a superstar but this witch hunt from some members of this forum are way over the top. From what I've seen, he hasn't been responsible for any of our losses this year so I suspect that many posters are merely jumping on the anti Lovett bandwagon.

Ok fine but don't play this idiot in first grade, at least not in the starting 13.

It's got nothing to do with his stats because stats don't tell the real story. This muppet regularly drops the footy, fails to bend the line and basically offers nothing either in defence or attack. Plus, THERE ARE BETTER PLAYERS that COULD and SHOULD be selected ahead of him. He is absolute garbage.

However if you want to argue stats take a look at his line breaks, try assists and offloads (assuming I've read your table correctly), all ZERO!

Big deal. There's probably a million players who don't have any attacking stats. Not every player is a gun. Lovett's a worker.

Agree to disagree. Lovett is utter crap.

I already said that he's no superstar but if he dropped the ball as often as you suggest, it would show up in his stats and it doesn't. Having been proved wrong you now shift to line breaks, try assists and offloads. Well, I hate to point out the obvious but he's in the side for his defence and one error per game isn't too shabby at all.

He's crap mate. Fudge the stats all you want but you can't polish a turd.

Don't tell me about it, tell it to the head coaches who continually put him in first grade. I think you'd lose that one, although you do seem to know a lot.
