Why is Lovett still a Tiger

Regardless of that, we had the opportunity to get rid of him, instead we kept him on and are now paying a hefty price for that. Look at it like someone who is busting for a dump, walks past a toilet and says "I'll just hang on until the next one" and before you know it WHAM!…..they've soiled themselves.

The club was about to go on a major recruitment drive. If you're trying to persuade players to sign for you I'd suggest that making it clear that you're happy to sack people for making a single small mistake is probably not a great bit of business. Lovett costs nothing and no-one wanted to take him off the Tigers' hands: might as well keep him on the books and use him as an example of how the club works with players who get in trouble rather than turning its back on them.

This sounds like the only logical decision to a decision that has defied logic.

Pay what price down the track? He's not the difference between making the eight or not.

Given that other players have beaten their wives and their clubs have retained them (this club is included in that dubious statistic,) you think that being caught with a bit of marching powder rates a lot lower on the atrocity scale.

We've also been in the spot light in the past for apparently not caring about player welfare, maybe the club thought it prudent to work on it with him.

I guess I am not privy to the clubs discussions but there are likely good reasons why he was retained. He will likely not be here next year when it matters. I am OK with that.

From what I've seen, he hasn't been responsible for any of our losses this year so I suspect that many posters are merely jumping on the anti Lovett bandwagon.
