Why is Lovett still a Tiger

Because he has a contract.

Hahaha! Are you serious?

Is he or is he not contracted?

Are you really trying to detract from your statement lol.
Yes he was and is .. But the facts were he was found with cocaine in his possession AND avoided the charge of ectasy on the ground coincidencently next to his car AND then failed to contact the club about the pending charges.. but its all good "He had a contract "
You crack me up!!

SKD and Barba are both previous offenders and likely to have already recieved a termination warning for future infractions. Lovett was not. I bet he is now though. Anyone want to plant something in his bag?

:blah

As others have said, the club did the right thing sticking by him as a first time offender instead of terminating him. Would you be so against the club having stuck by Tedesco if he did the same thing? Or do your moral standards depend on the quality of footballer the offender is?

Its low to whinge that he should have been sacked purely because they don't like him as a footballer.

Still wonder how 2011 would have been without Wifebeater Lui in the team

For some reason, I can't get the columns to line up but….........

So, there you go, averages 35 tackles per game with 1 error. No, he's not a superstar but this witch hunt from some members of this forum are way over the top. From what I've seen, he hasn't been responsible for any of our losses this year so I suspect that many posters are merely jumping on the anti Lovett bandwagon.

It's got nothing to do with his stats because stats don't tell the real story. This muppet regularly drops the footy, fails to bend the line and basically offers nothing either in defence or attack. Plus, THERE ARE BETTER PLAYERS that COULD and SHOULD be selected ahead of him. He is absolute garbage.

However if you want to argue stats take a look at his line breaks, try assists and offloads (assuming I've read your table correctly), all ZERO!

As a reserve grade player who is filling in when we have injuries he is okay if he doesn't make those mistakes. He though has made heaps of those mistakes recently.

So I believe in having a look at the facts.

So Kyle has made 5 errors in 2017- making hime 12th most errors of Tigers players and 185th in the comp. Now his error rate is much worse then it was personally in the last 2 years where he played 22 games and made 6 errors all season. However I like to compare against his fellow forwards and by minutes played

Joel Edwards (every 73.5 mins) and Chris Lawrence(82 mins) make errors more frequently then Lovett (84 mins) while Josh Aloia (91 mins) is a little better but they are all about the same

Interestingly Lovett only misses a tackle every 53 mins while Lawrence (26 mins) and Taylor (28 mins) and Sue (28 mins) miss them way more often

In saying all that I think Lovett probably isnt good enough for regular NRL in a finals team but looking at our current roster and with Aloia and Lawrence injured then he is a better choice then Chee-Kam, Edwards or the strugglers in NSW cup.

He works hard in defence and his effrot is good if not always his execution

He's terrible and out of his depth, but he's only playing as our two first choice edge forwards are out injured.
Stats don't really tell the full story about his inadequacies, but it's all irrelevant as we have no one else to play there whilst Lawrence and Aloiai are both out.

Relax, he won't be here next year.

Regardless of that, we had the opportunity to get rid of him, instead we kept him on and are now paying a hefty price for that. Look at it like someone who is busting for a dump, walks past a toilet and says "I'll just hang on until the next one" and before you know it WHAM!…..they've soiled themselves.
The lesson is always take whatever opportunity is afforded to you to offload crap. Or pay the price down the track.

I suppose I shouldn't be reading the forum while eating dinner…..

The fact that he is good for at least 1 dropped ball per game is the most galling part of his overall performances. If he can somehow miraculously manage to complete a game without dropping the footy the focus will be off him for awhile.
Just 1 game Kyle, cmon brother, can you manage it?

Lovett is a Tiger junior, who just does his best every week. He might not have talent as others have, however he is not selecting himself , he is just doing enough to be selected. Also, any one of you out there, if you had Lovett's talent, would try to do the same as him. Get off his back , he is doing good.

The club was about to go on a major recruitment drive. If you're trying to persuade players to sign for you I'd suggest that making it clear that you're happy to sack people for making a single small mistake is probably not a great bit of business. Lovett costs nothing and no-one wanted to take him off the Tigers' hands: might as well keep him on the books and use him as an example of how the club works with players who get in trouble rather than turning its back on them.

This sounds like the only logical decision to a decision that has defied logic.

Agree that it sounds logical. But was Tedesco turned off the Roosters because they sacked SKD?

Theoretically, it also makes sense that possible recruits who might be turned-off to come to a team due to that teams' strong anti-drugs stance are those who are possibly into drugs themselves. Perhaps a clean player might be impressed by such a stance.

Then again Knights sacked Mullen and soon after SKD signed up with them. So go figure! There is just no logic here.

_By the way; I think its important to distinguish between letting players get away with "a single small mistake" and letting players get away with taking drugs, lying and being openly deceitful about it. Lovett should consider himself very lucky that Tigers management have not taken any formal stance re drugs and deception (embarrasingly)._

PS. This is all good banter, but it should be completely moot. Bottom line is Lovett is a park footballer who tries hard but sadly has extremely limited value. He just hasn't developed the skill set required of a modern first-grader and as such, needs to be released.

Why are some people convinced that taking drugs is a 'simple small mistake'. There are a number of steps to take between not taking any drugs at all and taking an illegal drug. You have to want to, you have to source the drug, buy it, hide, take it somewhere, consume…...all deceitful deliberate acts.

A 'simple small mistake' is dropping a plate when you're putting the dishes away, forgetting to empty your pockets and leaving a tissue in there before you put your jeans in the wash.

With so many law abiding young players (which to me shows an excellent attitude to succeed by the way) I'd be letting Kyle go quick smart, and any other player in the same boat. These people do not deserve to be in privileged positions and positions of further opportunity. Even those who take a bit of coke etc (and that's your choice, fine by me) surely agree on at least that, moral stance aside.

Come on. He snorts cocaine and is a professional footballer in his 20's. I don't even think it should be illegal.

The only problem is if they get caught.

It they hid the coke buried down behind the opposing goal post that might give him some badly needed incentive to attack

In our current pack, he is probably our second best defensive forward behind Taylor. Sadly his yardage game and attacking game is hopeless

We've bought a few decent forwards for 2018 in Mcqueen, Matalino, Packer and Twal, which will patch up our starting 17, but our depth in the forwards is still inadequate. Next year we'll be two injuries away from recalling Kyle Lovett.
