Why Maguire's Tigers will be different

I didn't realise our attack was that bad, wow.. 61 tries. That's not even 3 per game on average. Come to think of it we did have some real grinding, low scoring matches - and our defence made up for the deficiency sometimes I guess. But hey it was the worst attack in the comp last year. Looking forward to seeing some improvement there.

No.2 was nofo.
What confused you was the kiwi commentators calling nofo thompson.
Poor thommo got blamed for the defence on both edges!

Ah, well Thompson was listed at NR2 on my team list. Yea the guy looked a little more tan then normal.

Ok if its Nofo then he has to goto Reserves.
Weird I see it here and other places listing NR2 as Corey Thompson. Let me know who to be angry at!

Both wingers could be considered average in defence, they were rushing in when inside defenders had people covered on a number of occasions.

Have we moved to an up and in defence under Macguire, are our wingers dumb, or did assistant coach Baldrick develop a cunning plan to hide our defensive strategies?

I am not really that keen to see who Madge picks for round 1\. Every time I look at the team I just think he is up against it; this is arguably the worst team on paper in the NRL.
If Madge does pick players like Eisenhuth, Nofa, then he is no different to every other coach we have had (who failed).
Jennings was a nice addition, but for a team that desperately needed an injection of power up front and a proper centre this must have been the worst off season of recruitment ever. And we still don't have a bonafide kicker. Completely unacceptable and management need to be held accountable. But for every fan like me who is sick to death of 2nd tier players there are fans who fawn over our team like they are the invincibles (totally ignoring skill level, experience, fitness, and most importantly -consistent history of failure).
Salary cap space was not meant to be an issue, but here we still are, considering players like Rochow and Gamble for out first grade team. I love Benji and Robbie, but come on. Time to wake up and smell the bloody humus.
If we don't win the spoon it'll be a successful season in my eyes.
If we can get anywhere the top 8 then maybe indeed it will be Maguire who turned the tigers to a team that will finally show spirit for a **whole 80 mins** and for a **majority of the season**.

No matter how good Madge is, in the end it comes down to things like skill, speed, size, power and of course goal kicking. Most of these things we are in short supply compared with most teams. Of course injuries and luck also play a part.

On paper I see us bottom four maybe bottom 2…...although last year I said the same. Maybe the Manly game might change my way of thinking

If they gave out points for saying the right things, Madge would take out a Dally M.

Seriously though, I think he's easily our best coach since Sheens.

That's the most honest appraisal of our team I've ever read. Who we have recruited in the last couple of years, when the purse strings were opened and we were actually able to recruit, is beyond disappointing.
