Why Nathan Cleary was never heading to the WT's

At least he didnt read from a pre-written statement. He seems to have more guts than his old man.

Most definitely so. Nathan seems like a good, honourable guy. His old man is a turncoat coward.
Should've expected Ivan to have flog-like tendencies….after all he did play for Easts and Manly.

Im convinced Nathan's character came from his mother.

This is some sort of ground breaking news.. Writer must've been desperate for clicks..

We expect loyalty because the fans are more than just financially invested, we are emotionally invested. Anything negative that happens to our club or favourite players is interpreted as a wrong against us. That's the parochialism of Rugby League. The fans haven't changed, the game has.

Yeah , youte right, most loyalty comes from the fans who in a lot of cases stay loyal to a club for life, but some seem to expect players to be loyal to their club as well.

I find it interesting that players are considered to be good people if they make decisions that we like and the ones who don’t, get regarded as being bad people, even though most of us wouldn’t have a clue what either player Is really like,
We can’t really say whether a player stays at our club because he was handed a lucrative TPA, or because he is a nice religious boy who goes to church two times a week and lLoves the club”.

While we look at a favourite player and see what a nice person he is, I’d still bet that a really handy TPA or some other inducement would have most most players having a long look at
The bottom line, ( and why shouldn’t they)
We’ve all seen time and time over, clubs will shaft anyone if it suits them , players are no different,
What looks like loyalty today , is often found out later on , Something entirely different.

Fans are not objective about most things in the NRL. The colour of a jumper can change things in the blink of an eye.

A lot on here we’re advocating Nathan breaking his contract a year early to come here. That was no problem. Suddenly Ivan breaks his contract 2 years early and he’s Ivan the terrible, a bad person with no morals.

Exactly right, That was bought that up in a post around the time of Cleary gate, , and it wasn’t taken to well.

But it’s true , most of us would have taken Nathan under any circumstances and not blinked an eye.
I’m not being critical about anyone who thought that way,
But it is a bit hypocritical

Okay just a bit of offseason fluff produced to sell advertising, but the Cleary family if they had any brains would .go under ground to the season starts after the actions of Ivan. No amount of spin can ever justify Ivan's actions. Okay young Nathan is trying to protect his family, but mate the damage is done and reputations have been tarnished for a very long time

Yea, the damage is done but the more a name is repeated the more likely they are of getting a TV gig.

Nathan is a good player. I don't know if he is going to be good or a legend. Ivan as a coach, well he is 'good', can fill the bench but he isn't great.

No idea why everyone is so angry? Honestly, we upgrade our coach, we don't have to sign a halfback and punt a club loyal Brooks. Its a win win
