Why Robbie Farah will always be the No.2 hooker behind Smith

We got no points against Melbourne this year… We got no points against the Dragons this year... we won No Premierships in 2012; 2011; 2010; 2009; 2008; 2007 & 2006... We have achieved nothing this year.

2 games dont make a season [especially against Parra & Penrith]. Regardless who you think our Rock is, it has no creditabilty while the Tiger continue to not be there on the big day in October.

If so, that would be unfair. A player can be a legend of his era and not get the premierships he deserves, due to the fact that it is a team game. Different if it was tennis or golf.
Wally Lewis is a case in point, widely acknowledged as one of the best we have seen but won zero premierships in the top grade…that hardly makes his career underwhelming.

In todays game, SOO is the pinnacle and is the platform on how players are perceived. I'm not sure who is responsible, but I assume it is the media hype surrounding Origin that drives this.

Premierships are the second guide to succes in RL, and again the media will use it to determine a players greatess. You and I…. Well we just get to debate it at the pub (now its internet orums) but our personal opinions won't count for much in determining how good Robbie will be perceived upon hanging up the boots by the wider community.

FTR, Wally Lewis won 3 Premierships in the top grade, but his dominance at SOO is what defined him as an Immortal.

And Watto and FTB both forget Test football especially in regards to Lewis

The only two Tests we got into trouble on the two Ashes tours (82 and 86 )it was Lewis that won them single handedly 82 with the magic 30+ metre cut out ball to Meninga to score in the corner and 86 it was an individual try that won the 3rd Test

Back on subject Smith has won 7 SOO series so far and is likely to win at least one more title People on here seem to blame Smith for playing with a great side ,that is a joke

Do the same people blame Raper,Gasnier,Langlands and Proven for playing together No Why ?? Something to do with what state they play for perhaps ??

I would put it this way - Smith is consistently excellent, as in 8/10\. Farah is occasionally awesome and occasionally less so, going as low as 6 or as high as 9/10.

If you think of it in terms of highlight reels, then Farah has Smith covered. But by the same measurement Benji has Cronk covered, producing memorable plays or wow moments that snatch a victory. Farah often carries the Tigers, none moreso than the 2007 when he was 1 pt behind Thurston (and again in 2010).

BUT, Smith is the more consistent producer. He doesn't need to produce flashy plays because he usually gives 80 minutes of excellence. He does this in Round 1, in the GF, in Origin, in the World Cup. He's not waiting for his moment, he plays a brand of footy that ensures he doesn't need miracle plays.

That is intrinsically the difference between the Storm and the Tigers. Sometimes we manage a few 9/10 performances from individuals and can match it with the best sides. But the Storm produce 7-8/10 from every player every week, and that is why they win so consistently.

Talk about one-eyed supporters. Farah is not even in the same class as smith.

He's talented no doubt and he's got a big heart but he's selfish and makes dumb decisions under pressure.

He's a good footballer but he's not a smart one. Smith is a genius and on a completely different level.

I would say this, but would add the hatred for the Storm and Smith in general would influence peoples opinions as well

I really can't picture Smith playing in a struggling team, where he has to do 50+ tackles per game, plus provide the attacking spark, week after week after week. He would probably be pretty useless playing for us.
